I just find myself shouting "What the hell does any of this mean?" at the TV when a perfume/aftershave advert comes on. Pretentious, meaningless shite.

Nothing is as bad as this (not technically an advert).

Oh god yes, perfume ads are always terrible, but that is probably the worst of the lot.

Think it might be, I'm just terrible at recognising celebs.

The Hilton Doubletree advert with the really strawberry floating annoying kid who wants to go to a hotel just so he can get a cookie.

In a world gone mad, a woman dressed in Christmas clothing saying she really likes her favourite perfume is in itself a revolutionary act :shifty:

I actually quite like that advert, the digitizer thing on her voice at the end makes me think of GladOS. You don't really need to make a big arthouse movie for Chanel No 5 - it's probably the most famous perfume in the world, so something relatively simple with a hot model works fine because it's already got its niche at the top of the fragrance tree.

The trivago advert annoys me because the situation of the hotel asking for payment at reception would not happen if you have booked via a booking site because you would have already paid

That’s not true though. You can book through a booking site and still pay on arrival at the hotel.

The only thing I don't get about that is why they felt it necessary to throw in the "My dad rejects my sexuality and hates me" and what seems to be a borderline forced marriage bits. Merry strawberry floating Christmas I suppose.

The advert would have worked perfectly well without the depressing bits.
