Not sure I follow - they would still just release all the balls into the street, only the cameras would be better nowadays.

I think he's talking about this

That was really interesting.

I always wondered why really busy shots looked so much worse when it's all just a collection of pictures, but I didn't really know how compression worked.

John Carmack tweeted somthing related a few years back that I always remember.

The bitrate for that intro goes through the roof.

I remember first reading about all this compression tech way back in the 90's when they were first getting ready to roll out Digital Terrestrial. Think it was in T3 or something and it gave a decent overview of exactly how it worked which I've always remembered for some reason.

That Verisure house alarms one that has been popping up everywhere lately.

"I'll do it right now"

Such poorly scripted and wooden acting, it's like the whole thing was put together by a team of Apprentice contestants who's creation has lost them the task.

The Werther's Originals ad where they're practically screaming "they're not just for old people anymore". And the bad dubbing on the "would you like one?" line at the end.

That Foxy Bingo ad when he asks where his pizza is and the bloke replies "alright?" - it just doesn't make sense!

I must have seen that ad several hundred times and finally I know what he actually says thanks to you post.

Now I just need to figure out what the chuff is being said in the Paddy Power Bingo ad when the voiceover say "5 and 4 (inaudible mumble) once more"

The bingo ones aimed at getting women hooked are really bad.

Hey, are you a slightly dumpy bored woman at home with no friends? Why not throw what little money you have in to bingo?! You can chat to other slightly dumpy bored women while we steal your money, it'll be just like when you used to have friends before they all moved away!

It's a bloody gambling advert which ruined a perfectly good Katy Perry song...

'Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey, hey, hey, BINGO!'

It seemed like an almost overnight thing when these gambling adverts started appearing, along with all the sports sponsorship.

Did they have some law changed?

I think that was indeed the case.
