The problem with that 02 advert is the irony in song choice. It speaks out about becoming another braindead, factory-created cog in the grand machine, and here we're sellinga restrictive, paid contract that enforces strict boundaries and restrictions on the user, along with the millions of others on the exact same deal with the exact same model of phone. Not to mention the creepy Big Brother aspect of it all or the bastardisation of a song about a white woman selling weed.

Hypocrisy seems to pervade every aspect of advertising now and no-one seems to care.

Well to be fair the song ends with "then the tides changed" meaning O2 will be the savior to take us all away from the little boxes etc.

Those santander ads are annoying but at least they use a lush piece of Einaudi music  Obviously only have the rights to one song (primavera) and use it everywhere that they can

Haven't seen a good advert for what feels like years, but strawberry float me, a couple of ones on at the moment are above and beyond gooseberry fool.

Nationwide, with those god-awful poems.
Heinz Beans, with that...song.

The fact that somebody thought these were good ideas just baffles me. Truly terrible.

Can I hijack this with radio commercials? There is one on at the moment for some slot machine type app (can't remember the name of the company so clearly not a great commercial) and the guy doing the voice over has a lisp and sounds like he also has teeth missing. At first I though it sounded quite cute, but now I can't stand it when I hear the strawberry floater and want to take him round the back somewhere and finish him off.

Yes?

I saw a preview of that months ago. The original idea was to have lyrics on the screen and for people to sing along and also learn how to 'play the can' throughout social media. The universal opinion was that it was strawberry floating disaster of a commercial. Heinz, clearly not wanting to waste the advert, have run it anyway.

The sales of Heinz beanz have bombed recently in favour of own-brand. Or people have just stopped eating as many baked beans.

Yeah I noticed a hashtag at the end saying something about 'learning the can song'. How out of touch are they if they think that people will actually do that/give a gooseberry fool.

Another one to add to the gooseberry fool list is Cadbury's. They basically take an unfunny video that's popular online, add some annoying music to it, and equate it to eating their chocolate. Talk about cheap/unimaginative. I avoid Cadbury's now anyway, but strawberry float me, at least put some effort in.

Cadbury's have stuck that on all their packaging too. You scan the logo with your phone and it'll take you to some random clip of a kangaroo playing the drums or whatever.

If you look at all the new chocolate bars they're pumping out now it's basically an exercise in taking as much chocolate out as they can possibly get away with. Cheaper to fill it with creams, biscuits and all sorts of other shite.

Yeah it's a shame Cadbury's have gone to gooseberry fool. Yet another good British company sold-off and ruined. I know several people who actively avoid them now, myself included.

Those secret escape adverts are extremely annoying. Whispering all the time.

In a month or so Guinness' christmas ad will be out, it's been the same for past few years, pretty sure it's only shown over here but man, gets me right the feels every time.

I was surprised they were allowed to use the word Hell in an advert on daytime TV when I saw that one for the first time.
