There was a fun thing where you could make it suddenly make a loud alarm noise that had me tempted to hide one and scare the heck out of people

Oof, bought it at release for £40+. Definitely worth it, I understand some of the feedback but it is still a really really spectacular action game. The diversity of playstyles, traversal and combos is off the hook. And there are so many moves and demons to unlock the replayability is much higher than any other Bayonetta.
They also fixed an issue where it was too hard to trigger witch time with Viola who introduces a very different moveset.
There's also an item that allows the demons to control themselves so you can attack normally like Bayo 1/2 if that bothers you. It takes about 2/3rds of gameplay to buy it.
