Right. Firstly, apologies all, if, by my not posting, I have been responsible for the vigilantes SHOOTING EVERYONE WITH A SPECIAL POWER. The reason I kept my head down was because, traditionally, whenever I got involved, i was killed within a few days, so I always remain inactive for the first week while I try and work stuff out. I never actually do work stuff out (i'm always wrong), but it's nice to stay alive regardless. I'm afraid I can't offer any solid leads either, I haven't spoken to anyone outside the thread about this game, (Lewis doesn't come on MSN anymore, I think he's blocked me :( ) and all leads have lead to the vigilantes blowing the wrong people away. To offer anything other than the standard advice of 'Look at the posting patterns of those who have posted a lot but offered nothing' would be foolish. I realise by doing this I am making that very same kind of post, but at this point, when everyone useful has been shot, I can't see it making a difference whether I live or die.

I would like to say though:

VIGILANTES, SORT IT OUT. JUST WAIT FOR A FEW DAYS, TRY AND CONSIDER WHY YOU ARE SHOOTING SOMEONE.

Don't blame me, I was about to kill Rog just before I died, and he turned out to be a PIRATE.

I'd like to echo this. I was really getting into it and, after worrying that I'd be shite at it, was actually really starting to get the hang of it.

Goat, you should definitely try running this again in the next few months.

I cant really fault the way this was run (its not Goats fault we have been beyond inept). He tried to help us with the detective (not that we saw it thanks to the vigilantes  ) I am genuinely interested in running one in a few months time, once x mas is out the way and we may have more participation without distraction.

I will try to balance things out more, perhaps an extra seer and rules over the vigilantes (they must wait a certain number of days before their "power" is active, hopefully to prevent day 2 massacres) Perhaps start with no vigilantes and intorduce the power to civilians as the game progresses? Also rules about a certain number of posts per day I feel are important to counter the inactivity which hampers the thread. I understand people want to use different strategy but honestly the humans need the wolves to post in order to have any chance of identifying them.

A vote rigger power may be a useful addition too, as wolves can control important voting (particlaly late in the game) At least this time we didnt have the issue of limited access mayorship

I will also stress in the sign up phase that participation is essential. I understand it can be a commitment but if your not prepared to make a few posts per day then dont sign up.

Any other suggestions on how to balance gameplay are welcome. (Sorry Goat not trying to recruit in your game thread ;) )

That's how much we like this game. Every 2 months or so sounds about right.

Maybe we should have a couple of main ones, and then some mini ones run by other people. I dunno, just a thought.

Shows you how badly we need an inactive rule that only one person who has posted on this page is still playing the game.

I dont mind who runs them, but some fine tuning of the rules to provide better balance would be a good thing.

I thought we were going to have an inactive rule this time?

To be fair, that is only because all the actives are waiting for the results of the lynch and the wolf kills, so then we can start setting up tomorrow. And you dead lot have been really active!

I think, considering this thread is basically dead, we may as well use it to discuss future games.

My main gripe about DML's last game was the fact he allowed the wolves to kill actives from the off. So within days, the likes of Mocky, TAP, Roonmastor, etc, and that's without going into the obviously flawed commander system that was in place for the game...

At the start of the game, the wolves have an advantage in my opinion. They should always have to kill off inactives in at least the first two days to give the villagers some time to form some kind of, well, something, before the actives start getting offed. The pacing is arguably the most important aspect of this type of game. Getting it wrong can lead to a complete massacre.

AYAW III was just about perfect, the number of roles, the pacing, the special events etc, and I don't see anyone including DML topping that. If DML wants to run a successful game again he needs to go back to basics instead of mistakenly overcomplicating matters which unfortunately have the tendency to ruin games.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I asked for one at the beginning. If you haven't posted for 24 hours you're eliminated.

You can't exactly hide being a zombie can you? And they aren't great at planning.

Nah. Vampires make much more sense. They're very intelligent. Vigilante can be Van Helsing.
