I have been playing with the SOFLAM recently. People strawberry floating hate me. If there was cross team chat I can just imagine the verbal abuse I would get. They are just flying around willy nilly, it takes skill to use a SOFLAM. :capnscotty:

I played a game with an S016, strawberry floater must have a gooseberry fool bucket.

Yep, I've never understood how some people level so fast.
I could almost understand if the game had XP boosters like BF4 with up to 200% boosters but as far as I know this doesn't and the grind is pretty bad for levels.
I just checked and I'm level 47 and I feel I've played loads since launch so I have no idea how I'd get to S016.

I just had a game and I really feel this is the most disappointed I've been with a game maybe ever.

I'm so ready to forgive this series for mistakes and defend it but I just can't with 2042. So many features I used to find crucial are simply gone like the ability to spawn into any vehicle so I could play as a mechanic or spotter or simply the ability to communicate with my team so that I could just ask if they wanted to drive so I could help.

The maps are total dogshit with almost no cover in vast areas so medics get mown down if they try and help anyone and because of the lack of coms you can't just quickly let a teammate know I'm on my way for a revive.

If the game wasn't so thoroughly frustrating to play I'd be playing it all the time as I love Battlefield games but none of the GRCade team play so I'm forced to play with mute randoms who have no incentive for team play.

I've come to terms with the fact I've wasted my money but it doesn't seem like there's even a roadmap for fixing the game which I feel can be salvaged with a bit of effort.
I'll be back now and then as I have the digital version but I honestly have no confidence this will make a BF4 style comeback which is a bloody shame.

Update 3.2 releases tomorrow.

https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/battlefi ... -notes-3-2

Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

General

  • Fixed an issue where leaving a party during matchmaking could make the game unresponsive
  • Fixed an issue where connecting to EA servers after signing up with a new account would not work on the first attempt
  • Updated behavior of the quit button during gameplay so it now returns you to the correct screen
  • Fixed an issue where the loading music would stop playing during level load

Soldier

  • Fixed a rare occurrence where after landing with the Wingsuit, hits wouldn’t always register on some parts of Sundance’s hitbox
  • Fixed occurrences of rubberbanding when running behind friendly players
  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause you to be stuck in both an alive, and downed loop
  • Fixed a variety of issues with attaching to ladders that could cause you to get stuck in a state where you could fly away or lose control of your Specialist
  • Fixed an issue where soldier movement speed was impaired by nearby explosions that spawned craters
  • Fixed an issue where camera shake and audio for landing would unintentionally trigger when dropping from very small heights
  • Fixed an issue where weapons from a Loadout Crate would sometimes inherit ammo from the previously selected weapon
  • Fixed an issue where being spotted when firing a weapon would spot you for too long

Stability

  • Added multiple fixes to improve overall game stability
  • Fixed a rendering related crash that could occur for AMD Radeon VII users while Sundance was visible on screen

Weapons

  • Sniper and SOFLAM scope glints now show from a further distance

Vehicles

  • Fixed an issue where passenger weapons would no longer be in sync whenever the driver’s turret would rotate, causing bullets to not register when firing at enemies
  • M1A5, T28 - improved the effective range and reduced spread on Canister Weapon Pod
    • Reduced Bullet Spread from 1.6 -> 1.1
    • Increased Damage Fall Off Distance from 35 -> 40

Battlefield Hazard Zone

  • Fixed a black rectangle being present on screen during Hazard Zone end of round when hitting quit at the level progress screen

Battlefield Portal

  • The Server Info tab now persists after hitting Refresh in the Portal Server Browser
  • Fixed an issue where text would overlap when joining a Team Deathmatch game during the end of round sequence
  • Rules Editor - the “IsInventorySlotActive” value now correctly handles melee weapons
  • Certain admin commands can no longer be spammed

Free to play... I guess it would work with how there's already microtransactions and other stuff already a part of the game... Absolute kick up the arse for anyone who bought it at launch, as I doubt they'd give such players much in the way of compensation.

Ouch. Yeah. Kick in the teeth to anyone that bought it. Problem is, you can’t really back track on that. Once you go free to play you can’t ask £60 for next years version then… gamers will talk about value etc.

Very true. Go free to play, you're stuck when it comes to the next game. You've effectively devalued the entire series by doing such.

I doubt it'd matter to the hardcore, but everyone else would certainly be talking of such.

I reckon they'll stick with the battle pass system but maybe they’ll drop the price and try and get loads of content in the 1st drop.

It’s clear that there was loads stripped out of this, as they were over confident. Especially when you compare to what was offered in terms of maps and weapons on previous games. I think they’ll try a big content drop.

I spent £60 and got the premium version. I’ve enjoyed it with some mates, but it desperately needs more content.

Dropping the price, moving it to the vault of EA Play early, anything but making it free to play.

Of course, if I remember right, Star Wars Battlefront 3 isn't happening so DICE can be focused exclusively on Battlefield, so maybe they're going the Battlefront 2 route with it. Ever decreasing team working to right the wrongs while the rest work on the next game.

They strawberry floated the release and it's definitely a little lighter on content, but since the first patch I've not really seen many issues with it. I'm quite enjoying it and play it regularly. Feels like the rocky release and the ongoing hate train on places like Reddit may have doomed the game though. /r/battlefield2042 is still mostly people complaining about how bad the game is, and any mention of it I see in other places usually has comments about how it's a dead/broken game . They'll have their work cut out for them to undo the damage now that it's such a 'popular' opinion.

It'll be a real shame if they make it free to play and fill it with microtransactions in the hope of making some money back. I saw someone suggested they might make Hazard Zone free, in the hopes of tempting some players into buying the full game if they enjoy the mechanics of it. I'm certainly not against that - I've not even played Hazard Zone.

I went back and played Battlefield 4 for a while and it just shows how much was cut for 2042.
They would have done way better by just updating the visuals of 4 and calling it a day.
I've completely given up on 2042 now as it's just not fun with how the maps are vast areas with zero cover and the lack of communication.

By far my worst gaming purchase in the last decade and I bloody loved the series up to this point  .

They really should have fully released into Gamepass, it would have generated some positive news (like outriders) and would have a large player base day 1.

Thank strawberry float for VOIP, now I can ignore that as well as chat.

Right? Maybe I had it turned off, but I don't remember anyone ever using voice chat in 3 or 4. And I'm guessing that's why they decided it could be cut from release.

Slightly worried they're focusing on those that are just repeating the same complaints and are probably unlikely to ever be satisfied. I understand making the game more stable, but I definitely wouldn't prioritise VOIP or the scoreboard over a new map to play.

Interested to see what changes they'll make to existing maps though.

They should just admit defeat and bin the entire game.

Played some games tonight. Rush is great, but the game is very quiet. It’s in a proper hole and seemingly getting worse.

They fixes and content quick to get people back.

Tried out the NTW-50 last night. I had previously ignored it because I'm generally terrible at sniping and my aim isn't the best. But actually found it went very well and was getting K/Ds higher than I usually would. Had it setup with the 3x scope and basically used it like I would a DMR, but with the advantage of one hit kills.

About to hit 100 hours playtime in Steam, so I'm happy I've got my moneys worth even with whatever happens to it now.
