Battlefield 2042 (XB/PS/PC) - No more content updates & Motive Studio making a BF game.

Got in and managed a quick game before starting work here.

It looks much better than I expected but I'm struggling with the UI and the controls. pressing right to select a grenade before throwing? Snipers don't seem to have a lot of power behind them but I'm sure it's just that starting rifle that's gooseberry fool.

I dunno, I think maybe 2 years of Warzone has left me a casual.

Hopefully I'll get to try this out some time tonight (I have EA Play via Game Pass, so assuming that counts?)

It does. It’s how I downloaded it.

Mine worked fine initially but keeps crashing now.

Got one game in - first thoughts are it's a bit janky, graphics aren't great (pop in and poor resolution), controls and ui seem a step down from warzone as mentioned above.

Will try put a few hours in and see.

Realised why it's crashing - the official xbox headset breaks the game currently :lol:

I really don't think this is great. Not just beta issues either- the gameplay feels tame and lacking excitement.

Some stuff I have seen so far, cant see grenades thrown at you. Pilots appearing outside of the aircraft they are flying. Mouse acceleration is on, can't turn it off. Rag dolls are amazing.

No strawberry floater revives or rearms (status quo).

This is the worst battlefield game I've ever played and I thought BFV was bad. The gunplay is so bad, it feels like you're shooting pellets and the sniping....boy oh boy it's dreadful.

Janky controls, team mates can't see your pings, glitches and it just feels clunky.

I'm upset.

Well I can't even get past the first screen as no matter what I press (press A to play etc), nothing happens.

Got a headset connected? Mine was doing that when it was on.

This doesn't sound like it's in great shape then? Only a few weeks to go until it launches as well :dread:

No headset, I restarted the Xbox and it was fine after that. Had a quick go and it did seem a bit buggy, but hoping to give it a bit more time this evening.

Hasn't it been the case on a couple of previous BFs when it first launches it's a bit of carnage but after a couple of updates it's all good?

It needs another delay and a lot of work. If this launches in 5 weeks we have another BF4/BFV situation with a busted game at launch.

only got in a few times before crash to desktop with no explination. From the tiny amount of moving I got done it doesn't feel as slick as other games such as Warzone or Apex - might just take some getting used to.

Operation Locker just won't feel the same without a billion grenades going off at all times.
I hope I can still use my "Annoying twat" set-up where I have all smoke grenades and a smoke gun launcher to just completely screw over everyone at the choke points as I find it relaxing.

Really?

I had a go. There are bugs, notably the aircraft seem to bounce around quite a bit and so targeting them can be tricky. The game itself is ok, agree the guns feel weak. Everyone seems to be running around with the Assault rifle as the DMR is a bit weak.

The graphics aren’t great really. Feels like a slightly nicer BF4 without the rock solid gameplay. The map is massive… huge. There is a lot of running involved.

Maybe I am getting old, and less into online MP. But after an hour there was nothing that grabbed me and needed me to buy it.

I'm properly disappointed so far. Had hoped this would be the game to take me and the lads away from warzone.

I can't see what it does better than CoD, and I can't see how they're going to fix that by next month. If they delayed it 6 months, maybe.

Massively dissapointed, game just feels meh, gunplay doesn't feel real and despite the huge maps/huge players it's not very exciting.

The HUD as well needs a re-work, too much info popping up on the sides of the screens making it impossible to see what's going on.

Sounds like a typical battlefield beta/launch.
