Hey Battlefield community!

I know everyone is wanting more detail about what’s to come for Battlefield this year, and I promise we have A LOT to show you in the coming months. We’re putting some things together for when we reveal the next generation of Battlefield, and we can’t wait to show that to you all...but for now, we have a couple of things we wanted to tell you about.

First, we’re really excited to have the biggest Battlefield development team ever working on our console and PC game for this Holiday season, and second...we have something very exciting to talk about on mobile!

The Return of All-Out Warfare

2021 is an exciting time for us here at DICE. Working with more world-class development studios within Electronic Arts, we have our biggest team ever on a Battlefield game for console and PC. Our friends at Criterion and DICE LA are working with us on our shared vision for the game, while the team in Gothenburg is taking technology in the game to the next level. Together, we are creating a jaw-dropping experience for you to enjoy later in 2021.

We’re in daily playtesting mode right now: polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.

Get ready for our reveal “soon™” ;)

A new Battlefield Mobile Game Coming in 2022

It’s always been our vision to bring Battlefield to more platforms. So, after years of prototyping, I’m super happy to be able to let you know that our friends at Industrial Toys, working closely with all of us here at DICE, are developing a completely new Battlefield game bringing all-out warfare to smartphones and tablets in 2022.

Make no mistake, this is a standalone game. A completely different game from the one we’re making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform. It’s being built from the ground up by iToys to make Battlefield-on-the-go a reality and you can expect a fully-fledged, skill-based experience. This mobile game is now entering a testing period ahead of launching next year, so expect more details to come.

I can’t wait to show you the two Battlefield games we have coming! In the meantime, stay safe, and play some Battlefield!

– Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager DICE

The rumours are that they are really throwing everything they have at this with extra development time and loads of extra people involved.

The PS4 and Xbone version are also supposed to be a downgraded port and done by a different team than the next gen version which should mean they aren't held back.

I hope the best for the game. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for news on it, and I'll probably jump in when it releases. Why wouldn't I?

Also, is it too much to ask for Siege of Shanghai MkII?

Operation Lockers will get a remake as that's just pure meatgrinder madness.

What's wrong with V then? I played a bit of 1 and quite enjoyed it. Definitely had more fun with it than with Battlefront.

I've been playing loads of it recently and enjoy it a lot. Maybe as its a nice bit of nostalgia from my bf1942 days. I know it had a fair amount of problems when it was first released, but I've only been playing it since it came to gamepass.

5 was actually quite good.
It just had the usual bugs and overall felt like a rushed game (mainly because it was) and was missing features that were shown in demos.
They also stopped supporting it early which made the idea of the game following the events of WW2 a joke.
The marketing was also a bit of a disaster but if you just wanted a Battlefield game it was not that bad.

It was nowhere near as good as 4 but neither was it the disaster some claim it was.

Losing the spotting mechanic was annoying, I know as a sniper you had a tool to spot people but no one really used it and they shortened the timer. It was great in BF4 to spot snipers and know that your team will be aware for at least a few minutes. That said, in most game modes Snipers are not going to help your team to victory.

BF1 wasn't too bad either with spotting. I do remember an entire squad was sniping and someone else noticed it and I crept up behind and stabbed them all in the back one by one, right beside each other but they were so focused on sniping only the last one turned and I battered him to death with a shovel. :datass:

For me, nothing beats the humiliation of killing someone with the revive tool as a medic  .
Getting vehicle kills with the blow torch is a close second though.

Ah yeah I remember that in BF4, it was hilarious

Never tried the blow torch thing but loved throwing C4 on a tank and blowing it up, If I survived afterwards I always felt like a boss, something CoD games can't get near imo.

Still get a mild rush if I've left some anti tank mines near a capture point and I've forgotten about it then it pops up on screen I've killed 4 or more :toot:

Not on the maps, they became perks which is total gooseberry fool. I think from BF4? which was one of the worst BF games.

The commander role was also pretty good. Another thing removed from BF2 in future games.

Again, the Commander role was in BF4, what perks are you on about?

I get the impression you didn't play BF4 at all or more than an hour?

Yeah... I'm struggling to find the reality in which vehicles weren't present on the map in BF4. The only ones that weren't on the field were the jets - for obvious reasons. And the same is true of later games, as well.

Yeh it started with the aircraft. I think because the runways were too short or something. It was a long time ago since I played it.

Battlefront suffers from the same thing.
