LIVE SERVICE

We’re taking a new approach to live service for a Battlefield game where players will be given the services and evolution they have come to expect from modern multiplayer games, all aimed at keeping the community playing together for years to come.

We’ll be evolving our world and expanding on the fiction through Seasons, each one lasting for about three months. Every Season will come with a new free and paid-for Battle Pass, delivering new content to chase after.

In our first year of live service, we will deliver four Seasons, with four Battle Passes, four new Specialists, along with more fresh content.

We’ll have more to share on the first Season of Battlefield 2042 before launch.

A couple of weeks before? They've got the eyes of the entire world on them at E3 and won't reveal it then? I'm not sure on that. Something this big they'd want people to know as soon as.

Looks like they have just renamed them to specialist but primary weapons are no longer locked behind class, you just get a specific gadget of which there are 4. I was also concerned there were no classes. hey ho.

No campaign to me says that the game is on EA Play at day one but all subsequent map packs will be chargeable. MT’s up the wazoo as well, wouldn’t surprise me if that’s why they’ve changed the class system - some sort of MT gear & gun lottery.

Well, they talk of live service plans in the FAQ.

Such plans wouldn't factor in microtransactions in the traditional EA sense, but they obviously will play a part in fast-tracking through the passes like in other games.
