Definitely! Just don't play hide and seek behind buildings too often... Eighthours is right, though. The rifleman is the best class but also the worst against tanks. Awesome against jeeps though!

I thought that, but then me an my bro, last night, slowed it down a bit, didn't rush into things, and took out time. We ended up scoring >200 per round, and even got best squad (with 2 of us in) on a couple of rounds.

Running about like it is Unreal Tournament circa 1999 isn't going to work.

It's more like Killzone than Halo.

The only realistic way of doing that is to let an infantry buddy butter the tank up with a rocket or two before you steal the kill. On your own, it's practically impossible. 5+ rifle grenades at least!

It's not at all impossible. You don't need any help. I love being the rifleman for two reasons...the rifle is brilliant and it's not that hard taking down tanks.

I'll give you a little tip. On sight of a tank seek shade/shelter...anything that camo's you from sight...and switch your rifle to rifle grenade mode. As you'd have noticed a lot of the time tanks are settled in position trying to pick people off so, in rapid succession, throw both grenades at the tank and then set off all three of your rifle grenades at it. Job done.

It's strawberry floating awesome.

Sometimes, as the tank is nearing destruction, the player bails so be sure to switch back to normal rifle mode quickly.

DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS - News) studio, today announced that Battlefield 1943™ is the fastest selling day one and week one download-only game worldwide on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace. It is also the fastest selling day one and week one download-only game on the PlayStation®Network in North America. Overall since its launch on July 8th, Battlefield 1943 has sold over 600,000 copies on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network.

“We are honoured by the reception that the game has received so far,” says Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield 1943. “Watching and participating in this non-stop multiplayer action has been a real treat for us and we can’t believe how fast our fans reached 43 million kills. We can now truly say that we have set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category and gamers recognize the endless value that Battlefield 1943 provides for just $15.”

Battlefield 1943 is an award-winning First-Person Shooter multiplayer game that G4tv.com says is “…a steal. Great sound, great graphics, great fun, and great price.” IGN even says that “Battlefield 1943 is an impressive package that sets a new standard for digital titles.”

Battlefield 1943 is an all-new download-only multiplayer action game that brings DICE’s first-class WWII action to gamers. The game introduces two thrilling modes where 24 players can compete across four classic WWII Battlefield maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea. These maps are inspired by the award winning Battlefield 1942™ game, and have been redesigned and reengineered from the ground up using the DICE Frostbite™ engine allowing players to wreak havoc and destruction via land, sea or air.

After the worldwide community challenge officially began on Friday, July 10 at 19:43 CET, the Coral Sea map is now unlocked for both the Xbox LIVE and PlayStation communities. The Xbox LIVE community reached the goal of 43 million kills in just 5 days, with the PlayStation community hitting the mark in 8 days.

Those sales figures are mightily impressive, I doubt anyone saw it selling so much so quickly (cue Hugo).

Imagine how many a downloadable version of Goldeneye, with online multiplayer, at a similar price point, would sell. Then realize the stupidity and stubbornness of those who said "No"

I finally caved and bought this yesterday. The trial got me hooked.

The only things that aggrovate me are the usual Battlefield WTF things. Seemingly random sniper shots, trillions of health points and no splash damage from explosives.

I can just about ignore them because the rest of the experience is so rad.

Good games lastnight! Eighthours, Nate Dogg and petrocelli certainly keep a tight unit, wherever one was, the other was nearby. Killed Nate the most though!

I was going to join the party but didn't want to just pop in cos its rude and it annoys me when that happens. :shifty:

I'll have a looksie through the thread at who plays this and get adding, need to be playing this in a group. It's still pretty fun to play without though

I had an awesome round with a plane last night, got 11 kills in it, most of which were enemy planes, they just kept jumping in them and I kept shooting them down, it was amazing.

This was one Guadalcanal, but I'm tempted to take my new found ability into Coral Sea now, I think it'll be much more fun when you know what you are doing.

Just need to figure out how to get good at ground kills with the plane now.

Wondered if that was you. Had an awful time of it, not played for a while and could barely focus through the Tamiflu haze. Squadmates kept it respectable for me though.

Well I seen Eighty and the lads in a party playing this so I just joined the game. Randomly seen Hugo about though in the past. We should set up at leat 2 squads of 4 to play tonight [360]. If we where on party chat we should be able to hear everyone.

I got killed by a plane lots of times lastnight on that canal map. Not by the bombs either, it was usually its bullets!

Great game though, lastnight after being killed by Eighty and Nate dogg in quick succession and the 'tickets' close to zero I managed to jump in a jeep and head back to where I had been killed. seen a guy running up the hill away from the base so just changed seat and gunned him down! It was eighty, then the game ended and my team won! Quality!

It still surprises me when at the start of the game, when you spawn on the aircraft carrier, the majority of your 'team mates' run to the boats, and launch them with just themselves in, without waiting for anyone else.

Is this some kind of battle winning tactic I'm unaware of, where you leave half your soldiers out of the game for a few mins?

Grrr.

You know normally I would agree with you but, in this game, for me it's all about getting in and doing one as soon as possible. Not because I want to be an arsehole but because if you leave it too long, waiting for others to get on board, you'll run a very high risk of being victim to that plane coming in from the horizon. It's happened too many times to me so I say either get your gooseberry fool together and run on with me or be left behind.

Being decisive once the games starts is very important.

Even when people are sprinting for your boat? I'm not talking about waiting to depart for a leisure cruise!

But fair enough if people are fannying about... :)

I prefer to have a few people in the boat when its going. Lastnight on the Iwo Jima map I jumped into one and stayed in it for about 30 seconds, ample time enough at least 8 of us to jump aboard.

It was the most I've ever seen in a boat and yes I agree it was prone to enemy attacks but once beached we captured first base within about 2seconds. We then poured up the hill towards the next flag where we found a lone enemy who didn't know what hit him! He must have planked it!

Yeah, good games last night. Had a real "movie moment" - I was a passenger in a jeep, accelerating down the main road on Wake Island when an enemy jeep came rushing at us all guns blazing. Switched to the rifle grenade as we were about to hit each other, BANG!, and the jeep flipped up and over us in a ball of flame like it was in a Bruckheimer movie. Awesome. 8-)

This is my fave multiplayer FPS in forever.
