Produced a load of good stuff over the years but it's faded badly recently. I think In the Flesh and Our War was the last time I watched it.

Edit: I forgot about Him & Her, I'm a bad boy.

Despite the removal of live broadcasting costs for the channel, its the programmes that cost the most money so many will have to be cut. iPlayer will continue strengthen. The BBC have big plans for iPlayer. It might prove to be a template for the future of TV.

I heard last night the choice was between BBC 3 and 4. I said to the missus straight away that it would be BBC 3 that got the chop as BBC 4 is seen to be arty and cultural.

BBC4 is the best free music channel. I don't ever really watch BBC3, but I'm always sad to hear about cuts.

bbc4 is wonderful, it really is. I'm not sure which one I'd prefer to be cut tbh. Probably BBC4 as I watch it's programmes on iPlayer more than BBC3. Even that would hurt a bit.

:fp: No we're not.

Have you ever seen the documentaries on BBC Alba about Scottish (mainly Glaswegian) psychopaths? Now they are fantastic. Dark, deep and accurate.

That's a point, scrap BBC Alba. Waste of airspace.

I watch BBC3 a lot when I am in bed, so that'll leave a hole in my nightly viewing. Still, as long as Only Connect and Ms Coren are safe Im happy.

Pissed at this, quite often watch bbc3 in bed, family guy/American dad. I now it's going to be an iplayer channel but surely they won't continue paying for rights to family guy etc

Also loved uncle and bad education. Along with Russell Howard's good news that's all I watch on he channel.

Will be interesting to see if some shows move to bbc 2.

A shame we won't be getting anything to replace it but I never watched it and so I won't miss it.

In the past 24 hours, I have read that BBC3 is broadcast on the same digital band as CBBC or CBeebies - at 7pm the frequency switches between the two channels. So unless they're scrapping those then they'll still be paying for the bandwidth. Now if they're still making shows under the BBC3 label, exactly where would they be saving money through doing this? Surely cutting the amount of money going into programming for the channel and airing more repeats, but keeping it as an actual TV channel , would be a more sensible route?

Thank strawberry float, garbage mostly, now they can put more money into bbc4.

I'm kind of glad, because it was apparently a choice between BBC3 and BBC4, and I'd be lost without BBC4. Such great content over the years, The Killing, Borgen, The Bridge, Arne Dahl, Wallander, a fantastic amount of film and music related content (Horror Europa with Mark Gatiss being a particular highlight), The Review Show, etc. I rarely ever watch BBC3.

Im not sure how I feel about this.

This last series someone strawberry floated up on a question big time, and Coren just said something along the lines of; 'Dont worry, its BBC4 and nobody is watching anyway'. Quite amusing.

There IS a chance they dumb it down, the question guru who I worked with on it has left the show.

Yeah you heard that right.
