If that line up is the best they could do, why even bother at all?

Almost not even worth bringing it back form the opening weeks line up

Although, Fleabag and This Country are always worth rewatching but they’re on iPlayer so :?

Saturday 5 through 19 February

:dread:
8pm - 9pm: Winter Olympics 2022 Extended Highlights

Is a whole one hour for a full series of events considered 'extended' these days?

I swear no-one listens to me.

VISIBILITY. When a channel is on the TV, it sticks in peoples minds. Out of sight, out of mind. The online experiment clearly was not working.

Its worth bothering with because BBC Three is about to get a LOT more viewers as a result.

It's probably like C4's Abu Dhabi GP highlights show, which skipped 30 laps worth of content in just a single cut.

If you take out the analogue era channels (BBC 1/2, ITV, C4, C5) then I don't think many Freeview channels have a lot of first run content on a nightly basis.

So I'm not exactly shocked at the schedule. Yes you could argue that the target demographic are more likely to have an ethernet cable plugged into their TV than an aerial antenna but surely the more channels available the better? You also have to keep in mind how this benefits low income households where maybe your parents would choose to pay for a TV license over an internet connection (I can't understand this choice personally but I'm sure it happens!).

The current method of on-demand via iPlayer and showcasing the best stuff on BBC1 or 2 feels better suited to the target demographic and the way TV is heading. Very rarely do I watch dramas or sitcoms on linear TV, which is predominantly what 3 was/is all about. For example I'm currently watching Two Doors Down on BBC iPlayer (best sitcom BBC has put out for years) and I couldn't tell you when it goes out on regular TV, nor does it matter.

I bet during sports programming it'll be used as another overflow channel like 4.

Thanks for the recommendation! I suggested watching Two Doors Down after reading your message, and me and Lady Sprout now just have the last Christmas Special to watch, which is some decent binge watching. You're right, it's very good.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

It’s definitely a very easy programme to find yourself watching multiple episodes of. Quite a few notable comedic actors in there too. Cathy was in Knowing me Knowing You with Alan Partridge, Beth in The Fast Show.

I liked the in-joke with Taggart in one of the episodes.

The linear relaunch of BBC Three, the broadcaster’s TV channel dedicated to younger viewers, has been branded a flop and, following its £80million relaunch, a complete waste of money.

Critics have been quick to note the tiny audiences for shows including The Fast and Farmer-ish, Mood and Obsessed with Killing Eve, none of which have managed to pass the 50,000 mark. RuPaul’s Drag Race is the only reliable big hitter currently on the channel, a disappointing result for the channel following its £80million relaunch in February.

Going well, then.

Comment from John Redwood and other such delightful Tories. :dread:

Those viewing figures sound poor, but how do they compare to other channels, away from the "classic" channels of BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4?

They’re really atrocious. Lower than all sorts of supplemental channels like CBS, ITV2, Pick, 5 USA, GB News…

Unlike those channels, people are not watching the live feed and instead just going on-demand to iPlayer.

:slol: (sorry)

Always seemed like a bizarre idea to bring it back. It was axed for a reason originally, and the programmes sound awful. I get it's probably not aimed at my age group anymore, but damn, if you're going to bring a TV channel back and spend £80m on it, at least get some good programmes, surely.

A few thousand on 3.

It also airs on BBC2 and iPlayer though, so the 3 airing is basically an irrelevance.

This is one of the BBC's main problems when trying to target a younger audience, they seem to think everyone under a certain age hails from a south london council estate.
