I seem to have some malware on my laptop that is causing it to grind to a crawl.

Doing anything is a nightmare on it.

Whats best way to get rid? Any free software that will do the job?

TIA

I've used the free version of Malware Bytes which has managed to pick up and remove various infected files.

Same; I use the free versions of Malwarebytes and CCleaner to remove gunk and tidy things up.

I'm afraid you're going to have to buy a new computer, it's the only way to be sure.

There is an argument for a format and reinstall, depending on the malware.

I once accidentaly installed malware on a PC two days after getting it :fp:

I was installing a few programs/utilities I always use (and trust) and while installing 7zip didn't notice that there had been an optional 'toolbar' install tickbox during the install process, it basically kept changing my brosers searchbar and homepage to some dodgy looking search engine full of ads for viagra and sex toys.

I couldn't get rid of it completely so had to settle for quarantining it with Malwar Bytes, eventually removed it when I upgraded to Windows 10 and formatted the drive.

Maybe I can help you out, in exchange for a small favor. I need to find Nicolette DuClare.
