I once accidentaly installed malware on a PC two days after getting it
I was installing a few programs/utilities I always use (and trust) and while installing 7zip didn't notice that there had been an optional 'toolbar' install tickbox during the install process, it basically kept changing my brosers searchbar and homepage to some dodgy looking search engine full of ads for viagra and sex toys.
I couldn't get rid of it completely so had to settle for quarantining it with Malwar Bytes, eventually removed it when I upgraded to Windows 10 and formatted the drive.
