New engine? Seems an odd place to push their new tech.

Unless they're about to show off something impressive with it like SF or ES6.

Deathloop looked intriguing but I don't understand what it is...

DOOM Eternal as expected looks a top pick for GotY

First half of the show was a bit gooseberry fool, picked up from Rage 2 onwards.

I was wondering how Tom Hall (One if the main guys on OG Commander Keen) felt about it. Someone already asked him.

Black Mirror, White Bear episode, combined with, uh, Hunger Games? I like the concept. Might make a better movie than game though, like a Looper sequel.

Another cringey, badly formatted Bethesda conference then. As predicted, everything not in house Bethesda looked pretty great, Doom, Ghostwire, Wolfenstein and the other thing. Slightly perplexed at the amount of CG trailers again and the whooping and hollering was embarrassing.

The audience were awful and so was Todd, but I got my Fallout 76 update so I'm happy

Oh man. Watching this and I'm finding it very hard going. Todd Howard is being...Trump, basically. Warping facts and lying out of his arse about 76

I don't think he lied about anything. He just did his usual "haha aren't all the bad things we do so funny" shtick, which is grating to say the least.

Want to watch this for Youngblood, Doom and the Arkane game - what point do I need to skip to in order to miss Todd and all the Bethsoft shite?

Bethesda's games often appeal to me and I found that conference to be great fun.

I gotta admit that I wasn't aware he was lying about the game. He did claim that player figures were good... I guess we can't prove that either way. I thought he did well to have a dig himself and Bethesda with the "lots of feedback... and I'm surprised you're still here!" line. The (free) additions and expansions for the game came across pretty well, I thought.

Deathloop, Ghostwire, Fallout 76, Wolfenstein, Rage 2, Orion game streaming, Doom Eternal... yeah, I was interested in all of that. I'd put that down as decent.

Listening to him and that team you'd think it was a game that was experiencing a genuine resurgence, that is was a lightly flawed but popular game that was experiencing growing pains rather than one of the largest critical failures of the generation. The DLC is nice, but behind all the brand bluster it's a concession that their game didn't work as intended.

Is any of that surprising? No. Was it hard to swallow? Absolutely. Cringe not usually seen outside of the EA conferences of old.

And that's all I have to say. You're not going to agree, I'm not going to agree with your disagreeing so let's just say DOOM looked great and leave it at that.
