I thought there was nothing that could make the Fallout 76 thread more of a disaster ( :P ) and then I discover that the inverted Y-Axis crew are making a stink in here!

No, that's the mold in the $150 power armour helmets in the US that have been recalled due to health risks.

Hah, I should have known there would be more to it!

You really hope that Bethesda and the industry in general will be looking at some of the ways this has gone wrong and learning lessons. But you know that within months there will no doubt be a load more broken games being released with poor quality "special edition" extras and the whole cycle will continue again!

On the other had - glad folks are finding ways of having fun with this, decorating their post apocalyptic shacks all the like! :toot:

I spent some time last night adjusting the size of my camp; I reduced it a bit so that I have enough "space allocation" for furnishings. It's coming along well! Tbh I've realised that making homes / camps is my ideal gaming scenario  .

8-)

It has to be done in-character though - minecraft style rather than sims. Immersive base building :datass:

The Scorched and the trash of the post-apocalyptic design is a decent replication of my actual 'living in London" experience :datass: .

You should absolutely build your next camp next to a bee swarm spawn point

I'm quite pleased with the stucture of the camp although the rooms are a little empty in places. I need to focus on doing actual missions to learn plans for other items from around the wasteland! I really enjoy the creative aspect of this game :-) .

Does anything more need to be said?

Up and down are much easier to think about though, when you look up in real life what are you doing?

You tilt your head/neck backwards, exactly like moving the stick backwards on the pad. Unless you move around with your head absolutely still and just look around with your eyes?

After spending a long time building camp(s), I've started to branch out into the missions. I have discovered a few more bobble heads on my travels and they've gone straight onto the display cabinet :-) . I know that you can use the bobble heads to temporarily boost specific skill areas, but I haven't done this because I'm not sure if you loose them if you do?

And... time to admit something. I hadn't realised that, on the mission screen of your Pipboy, you can juggle which missions are active and press R1 to see the location of the next step! I think a big reason for me not doing the missions was because I had a ton of missions all active and I didn't know where to go for next steps... it was all a bit messy so I was just wandering about  .

Having learnt that, I went on a side mission - "Cold Case" - in which I was tracking down clues to trace a kid called Freddie. It was great as I had to visit several new locations (including the water park!) and I got a little better at shooting (I had to take on some mutants) and I felt like I was getting into the game a bit more.

Great fun and it boosted my confidence; I plan on tackling the main mission route now and hopefully I'll start discovering plans to build a variety of stuff. My current dream is to get a power suit!

Gonna make up some Nukashine :-) .

My camp is coming along well now... although I'm up to the build limit. I guess I'm gonna have to make a smaller home if i want to put more stuff in it.

I unlocked the "Play Fallout 76 for 76 hours" achievement this evening 8-) . I've had to build another power generator as my camp's power requirement was growing! I added a second vending machine so hopefully I'll start making *tons* of caps.

I haven't sold anything yet :( .

I've decided that I'm gonna move and make a new camp. I really like my current base; I worked hard on it, everything just "works" and - even if I do so say myself! - it looks good.

It's located in a dense forest area, though, and there isn't a lot around. I want to find somehere a little more open... but not near any major enemy areas! I'm gonna go explore and see what is available and I hope to start building on Sunday.

In the meantime, the tour video will be a "reminder' reference for when I build my new place :-).

I did it! I sat down to play and, over six hours later ( :dread:), I have a new camp!

I looked around the game world but, as I'm still relatively low level, I decided to stay in the forest area albeit a wee bit closer to the centre of the map. I'm on a steep hill close to a small town area and a work yard. The view from high up in my camp is marvelous . The building is smaller than my previous camp but this is deliberate as I'd like to keep it a bit more compact. It's challenging as there isn't much clear, level ground and so it is tough to find space for my water purifiers and Collectortron. It's fun, though, and the view makes it worthwhile!

I still have work to do on it but I'll post a tour vid once it is finished; hopefully during the week.

I've finished my new camp and I love it! It's simpler than my old base - really, it just has two main rooms, the work area downstairs and the living space upstairs - but it just gels very well. The living area has lovely views and a balcony. I've fitted in most things that I'd like and now I just have to find a patch to grow food. I have two vending machines stocked up and I'm hoping to sell stuff; I've priced things pretty low.

Now that my new home is pretty much completed, I'm gonna go explore the local area this evening. I don't think there are too many things nearby that would attack my camp, but I guess I'll find out!

...oh, and a wee thing about door closing... I wish folk would close the front door after visiting someone else's camp! Looking on the F76 forum, this seems to be a common thing. Manners still apply in the post-apocalypse ;).
