I can't quite get my head around how the blueprint and the "Move CAMP" features work. I can blueprint the whole camp but, when it comes to re-building, it often doesn't fit onto the landscape. Perhaps I need to build camps on flatter areas rather than on hillsides? As for moving camp, does your old camp get broken down into materials... or have you lost that stuff? I can't see that it's transferred to the "Stored" tab; I am having to build afresh and that's eating into my available materials.

I've gone from having a large-ish camp with four crafting tables and a nice generator down to a little empty box place now  . I suspect I've done something silly :( :shifty: . Gonna play again tonight and try to re-build.

Anyhow... Pattybean and I teamed-up for a bit earlier and we took down a flying scorchbeast thingie! It was amazing fun but I was a little under-powered to face such a beast; Patty had to revive me at one point and he also kindly gave me a big pack of pure water ( ). But, dang it, I later realised that I'd used up all of my 0.45 bullet supply on the scorchbeast  . Was cool fun though - thanks, Patty!

...I've built a new camp. It's kinda okay... except I've run out of steel and so can't put a roof on it* :fp: . I'm sure I had loads of steel when building roofs before - this must be the cumulative effect of re-building and losing stuff  . Ah, well, I'll go out and try to find some more!

* I could put on a flat wooden roof but that ain't cool enough.

Played a lot last night, worked through the sheepsquatch quests (although the event at the end is super impossible!). Now I have a load of "Unsolved:" quests to work through too which I'm hoping will be fun.

The vendor changes definitely make things easier, but it's weird that I can now go to Whitesprings and interact with vendors from factions I have not yet discovered. Not sure I like that to be honest, it removes a bit of the discovery.

Renaming equipment is a good feature to have added, but it has made repairing equipment a bit more annoying as it adds extra button presses. I also had it bug out and stop displaying equipment condition so I kept having to quit in and out of the workbench. Bethesda pls.

I started building a new camp too in a location I found that seems very cool, and I'm going to go ahead and say its my favourite yet. Pics and vid once I finish it!

Nothing disappears or gets automatically scrapped. If you move your camp, everything that existed in your old camp will be stored as a "blueprint" (or multiple blueprints) and appear at the top of the stored tab when in building mode.

These "blueprints" aren't the same as regular blueprints (that appear on the blueprints tab) as they actually contain all of the pieces, and those pieces are not available outside of the blueprint. The idea is that it lets you replace your camp exactly as it was when you move.

What you need to do is select these blueprints and hit the "store" option. It will warn you that storing the items will delete the blueprint. Do so, and all the pieces that were tied up in the blueprint will become available individually again in the stored tab.

I hope that explains it! Nothing will be lost unless you scrap it yourself.

"I'm excited!" to see it! :toot: . Camp building is a ton of fun!

Thanks, Orange - I will try this out later (or maybe tomorrow)! I feel like I'm being a dumbass about this aspect  .

I enjoyed it too. I'm primarily a melee user but I'm too much of a hoarder to throw away ammo. Stop by my new positioned river view home some time and I will give you any ammo I have for what ever gun you use.

Not gonna get to play over the weekend but I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out! The main thing I need to add now is just a water purifier and some crops at ground level.

Last night I built stairs all the way up to the top of the existing tower, and to my surprise I found a hole in the roof just big enough to fall through. The tower is actually hollow inside so it's sort of a "secret" empty room inaccessible through usual gameplay. Even getting that high with a camp requires first starting the camp at ground level, building up to the pipes, and then moving the camp to pipe level (as where you place the camp defines it's range, including height, and one of the quirks is that camp height extends both above and below where it is initially placed - so if you can build up and replace the camp at a higher location, you gain more height to build in).

The hole in the roof made a silly (and stimpack-requiring) entrance to the tower inside because it's such a fall, and no building could be done inside because foundations can't be placed and stairs won't fit inside - but what I did was place the fusion generator inside the tower, and hook up power lines up and out through the roof. I then got rid of the temporary stair/floor scaffolding I had to get up onto the roof. The end result is that the generator is completely hidden from the rest of the camp and completely inaccessible without building stairs back up B)

With the Burrows coming out soon, and with the eventual opening of the other vaults, we could really use a LFG system. You already have the Hunter/Hunted radio station that alerts the whole server when someone has joined, so why not just make a LFG radio station that has substations for "dungeons"?

It would definitely help. At the same time as a primarily lone wanderer I don't like the apparent trend of adding end game content that requires grouping up. I won't be getting to the Burrows for a good while (as I've not even been to that side of the map yet) but when I do I hope I can attempt them on my own, even if it is tough.

Not having explored the whole map yet is also why I haven't tried out Hunter/Hunted, but from my experience I've never seen notifications of more than 1 or 2 players trying to join it. The low server sizes are great in general but they seem to make Hunter/Hunted and the other PVP events incredibly unlikely? It sucks that there are trophies tied to winning them.

I saw this exact same suggestion in the FO76 subreddit this morning. I agreed with it then and I agree with it now.

It's a lovely spot to stop and have a sing-along :-).

I was pleased today when I gained some Atoms for undertaking a quest and I also got a photo mode frame for visiting a location :-). There is some amazing scenery across the gameworld and I love how it has real verticality to it. I've spent more time exploring than camp building recently; mainly 'cos I lost all my camp stuff by not storing it when I last moved. I have to collect materials again before I can make it as cool as it was before.

Orange, you legend, it worked! I had three or four camp blueprints and I "stored" all the gear from them... I got back loads of stuff that I had thought I'd lost! I'm building a new camp from fresh and it's coming along well; relatively modest but decent-looking :-).

I now gotta work out how to setup my power supply lines; I can't seem to run power from the (medium) generator into the house. I have setup a power connector pole and connected it to the generator, but I can't work out how to run a cable inside the building. Gonna go search YouTube for guidance.

:toot:

Wires can't go through walls (or anything, really). They can also only go so far. To get them into a building, you can either string them through a window or open door, or through a gap in a roof (some of them can have open sides). But if you want to be neater, there are a couple of tricks to getting wires through walls:

1) First string them through a window or door, and then "replace" that piece with a wall. I think it says modify/replace as opposed to scrap or store, it lets you replace an existing piece in place with a variant, and when you do so any wires already attached will stay in place. This is the one I have done a few times.

2) I /think/ this still works but I've never done it. Place a mat on the floor (you will have to have unlocked this), then place a power connector on it. Wire it up, then move the mat ever so slightly and replace it. Now move the mat again, and you should be able to place it the other side of a wall and the wire will clip through without issue.

The other option you have is to use power conduits. I've never played around with them (they were DLC in Fallout 4 so I've always been used to wires and not felt a need to change), but rather than wires they let you have solid conduit pipes running across your camp. There is a conduit piece specifically designed to connect through a wall, with connections on both sides.

Hope this helps!

Thanks again for the tips, Orange :toot: . I started playing this evening before seeing your guidance but I will go back to the game tomorrow and check out those power options. I'm intrigued by the "conduits" option as I hadn't noticed that in the game. I guess a further choice is to place a small generator(s) inside the building. Hmmn, we'll see!

This evening I have built a new camp! It's not up to ORKN levels (obvs) but I still feel it's pretty neat. I have made a video so that you guys can check it out... but a few things to note first:

> I got surprised by an invader during the tour
> I then got a bigger surprise when I discovered that my medium power generator had been totally demolished  . I haven't had this happen before... but I repaired it and then put up undefeatable defences (a wooden gate  ) to halt access to it
> The video has come out way darker in YouTube than it appeared on my PS4 screen. You may need to adjust the brightness during viewing
> Oh, and sorry for spending some more caps, Orange. I couldn't resist the glowing map and that rug  .

I *love* the camp building in this. I'm addicted to it :o .

Looking good jawa, and nice use of VATS. I told you it wasn't completely useless :P

I have the same with photos taken at night in Fallout looking darker than expected. I'm not sure why that is, but oh well!

I like your upstairs, and the half-height walls is a decent way of making the stairs seem a little less awkward. I really wish they would add some more stair options that snap to the side or something. Still, the new atomic shop stairs with railings (that I see you also got) are decent. I just hope you haven't been spending too much real money on the microtransactions, for your sake!

I'm very happy to see someone else getting into camp building though :toot:

VATS is a bit odd in 76 - certainly not as handy as it was when I experienced it in F3 and F4 - but, being a "live" game, I can understand why it has changed.

OrangeRKN wrote:...I just hope you haven't been spending too much real money on the microtransactions, for your sake!...

The prices were/are outrageous but I have picked up some things in the daily sales. The string of white lights is meant to be on offer later today and I might take a look at 'em.

OrangeRKN wrote:...I'm very happy to see someone else getting into camp building though :toot:

Yeah, I really enjoy the building, Orange! It's like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer - Wasteland Edition  . I gotta work on those power line options next as some of my lights aren't powered by the current setup. However, I do find that once I've "finished" a place, I want to build a new place elsewhere! Choosing a new location can be tricky as the game's environments are so hilly; there are few safe, level locations. I have tended to build on hillsides but perhaps I need to look out in the open a bit more.
