Well, no.

Have one for industry wide issues, which I assume is what makes up most of this thread. And one for Fallout 76.

Done.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

The argument being against that, though, is that any suggestion of said industry issue being raised against Bethesda and Fallout 76 will not be allowed here in this thread. Don't agree with that, at all.

Taf, I stand by this. If you were so passionate about the industry-wide issues, you'd make a thread about it.

We don't need two threads for every game. But - in my opinion - we would be better off having one thread for Fallout 76 and another thread about how the industry makes and publishes games. The issue is bigger than a single game; it's a hot topic for AAA game publishing as a whole. Sure, Fallout 76 is the current (two months, now) poster-boy for these issues - just as Star Wars Battlefront II was at one point, and perhaps as CoD Black Ops IIII should be now - but the issues are wider than this.

This approach isn't me attempting to "police" the thread; I'm not a mod. But it feels like it'd be the right thing to do.

Not since the last update! But that patch supposedly included a fix for problems re-positioning your camp. Before, it was often pretty tough to move it as the variance in ground condition (trees and rocks, etc) stopped you from re-building. Apparently there is a "ground-smoothing" tool available now and I hope that helps the situation!

Sounds like it'll be an easier play now! :toot: Have they got the nuke codes working yet? I heard a bug brought them down a little while ago.

Yeah, they're working, Alvin - they stopped on 1 Jan but were fixed on 2 Jan. I haven't got near getting nuke codes yet; I think you have to be quite some way into the game before that opportunity crops up.

You can now remove certain objects from the camp area which makes it easier to build, at least from what I've experienced with a workshop - I haven't moved my camp again yet as it is serving me well.

Just played for a good few hours and finished the cold case quest - I liked it a lot actually! It progressed through a lot of interesting locations and the story to it was well developed.

I've also been loving the enemy hordes I've been facing recently, with so many more enemies than you ever see at once in the previous games. Feel like a proper one (or two) man army. I also took control of a workshop that had a vertibird landing pad, and repairing it lets me call in vertibird support with a special flare - and is brilliant B)

There’s already a ‘state of the industry’ thread on the first page - paid content in video-games, started by... Jawa! And sometimes, a very similar conversation is going on over there, as it should.

But does that mean it ‘can’t’, or ‘shouldn’t’ be discussed here as well? Or that we can’t talk about bugs and canvas bags in the other thread?

If talk is flowing here, let it - what difference does it make, Jawa? Is it that you feel negative opinions are pushing you out of the thread?

Could always just make a 'FO76 personal journey' thread or something where you try and keep criticism to a minimum. That way we can have real discussion of a flawed game from a lazy company with scummy practices as well as a sanitised look at it.

I'll try it out later, Orange. I had built my camp in a place that was good for water but seemed low on food supplies and was also quite a way from my storyline objectives. I tried moving it but I couldn't get it to fit the landscape... hopefully this will be easier now.

I think this is the gist of my frustration. Generally, people aren't really interested in the game; they've seen the headlines - "$200 plastic bags!", "Some people are cheating!", "Bethesda might go bust!" - and the game itself is a sideshow to the stories. I can understand this but, yeah, it's frustrating when you want to talk about the game.

I keep saying it, but I don't actually disagree with many of the criticisms being raised against the setup and marketing of the game. And, yeah, the game is clunky, the VATS system works poorly and the Atom Shop pricing is - in my opinion - crazily expensive. However, I feel that the issues surrounding AAA game production and marketing are bigger than just this game and I would have thought that folk would want to talk about this. But, hey, apparently not - which is cool. I admit that I am puzzled as to why people wouldn't want to make a bigger thing of the perceived issues around AAA publishing - especially when they are so passionate and vociferous about it - but, yeah, we are all free to post as we want to.

Met wrote:...you try and keep criticism to a minimum...

No... I'm suggesting that there should be *more* criticism. Over past years, AAA publishers have used development and marketing practices that are increasingly questionable and I'm suggesting that we should shine a light on that; to widen the discussion rather than have it condensed into a thread about a game that not many folk are actually interested in.

I ran into Grahm (the Super Mutant merchant) for only my second time and he had a ton of plans I wanted to buy, but after selling a load of stuff (including all my radaway in desperation) I could only afford to buy brick building plans... so now I can build with brick!

My friend and I had a little jam session on the instruments (I'm on piano in my neato new outfit)

A random player also happened along as I was still decorating, gave me a thumbs up after looking around, and then left a load of building materials and rare ammo for me (including a mini-nuke), so apparently my building paid off!

Also unrelated, but I liked the shot:

Nice of that player to drop the gear for you, too. I'm guessing that your character must be quite high-level now?

Not wishing to plunge this topic even further on the direction you are trying to avoid but....

Odd thing to say about blackops Jawa, most of the dlc is cosmetic, I don’t believe there’s a pay to win model. And, quite amazingly for Activision, they’ve released a lot of stuff for free.

Some of the zombies day one dlc leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth I admit. Less of an issue for me personally as not even played all the base zombie maps yet as it’s not a mode I play often.

I'm level 31 now, and not far off entering the third (south-west) area of the map.
