Just played a bit more.

I drank a bottle of Nuke Shine as part of a mission... the screen kinda went blue, I passed out and then work up on the other side of the map in an area I'd not been to! And then I got duffed up by a gang of scorched. I think I have opened up a new area now?

And then, for the first time, I had two Scorched shooting outside of my camp! I had to go out and take 'em down... which was a little tricky as the weather had turned and it ws really foggy :o .

I've set aside nearly all other games now I've got into this. I must try and keep up with FF XIV, but this past ten days has been all about '76.

Truth! In past years my head was turned by gaming hype and excitement, but now I'm sticking with games. A change in focus :-) .

Mhmmm.

The nukashine quest is good fun, and very promising for future updates. I need to learn more of the brewing recipes

I've now got the recipe... I just need to track down the ingredients! I loved the robot in the drink-making room  .

Appreciate the offer, Pattybean, but that's okay, thanks dude! I'd like to search 'em out and discover them myself :-).

I've moved my camp because it was over the other side of the map from where the (early) missions are and I was spending ages just wandering over to the right places. Gonna keep my camp as a little box room for now, as it's easier to move around. And I didn't store all of the constituent parts before moving it :fp: .

I've only attempted to go into a nuke zone once, and immediately stopped because the radiation was insane. I don't use power armour so I've yet to work out a viable approach... and I assumed it was endgame content anyway.

The maintenance session is in progress and the patch notes have been released. There are stacks of updates and additions including:

Animation: Characters now sip a refreshing beverage while toiling away at the Brewing Workbench.

Item renaming sounds excellent!

A custom name will only appear to the player who originally renamed that item, and the item will return to its default name when traded, sold, or dropped.

Wasn't sure about this but probably necessary to avoid abuse of the system.

A Vendor from each faction except the Enclave can now be found downstairs in the shops at The Whitespring Resort.
This should help reduce the need to Fast Travel in order to visit multiple Vendor Factions when buying and selling items.
The pool of 200 Caps that was previously allocated to each Vendor Faction has been merged into one combined pool of 1,400 Caps that is shared across all Factions.
This means that buying items from, or selling items to, a Vendor will update the pool of available Caps across all Vendor Factions.
This change should offer more flexibility when buying and selling higher-priced items, or when attempting to trade many items at once.
The Vendor Cap pool still resets after 20 real-time hours.

Huge change right here. Makes things easier but not sure what I think about it tbh. I sort of liked finding more factions leading to a greater pool of money available.

V.A.T.S.: No longer targets friendly or neutral players or creatures.

This will be useful in some situations, but might also stop me from doing what I want in others... we'll see.

I've totally forgotten about using VATS... since I've recently been playing again, I've not used it and I can't even think what button you press to activate it. I will give it a go this evening. Take me home, Country roads!

I found it pretty useless until I got a decently high perception stat and the perk for targeting limbs, so you might be better ignoring it!

You would like the mysterious stranger though

Yeah, I recall VATS being pretty janky at launch... I kinda hope that, with a (slight) increase in my stats, it may be a little better now. Will find out this evening!

I remember mysterious stranger from Fallout 3. Dat killer assistance :datass: .

I discovered that I have some food items that have "spoiled". I didn't realise that food doesn't last in your inventory. Is there a way that I can get rid of "spoiled" stuff (or should I be doing something else with it)?

This evening I had a great time exploring and finding some places that I'd not visited before. I saw this massive, tall bridge and decided I wanted to get up to it. Finding a banjo was a cool Easter egg for traversing across it!

Plot twist: Whilst faffing about with the PS4 system software to post this pic, I was attacked by a zombie and a huge mosquito... and I fell off the bridge and died. Dang online, persistent game world  .

I got safely across after re-spawning, though :datass: . And found a cool holiday cabin-type place :o .

Just drop it, think you press square from the inventory. You can also craft fertilizer at a chemistry bench, I think it costs 10 spoiled whatever per unit of fertilizer.

On vats the other trick is having a clear line of sight. If not the percentage chance can jump around as it's real time and you can end up wasting shots and AP.

EDIT: I have a picture on that bridge in the same place with my friend playing the banjo

Ah! Thanks, Orange - that's useful as I need some fertiliser to grow some corn!

Yeah, I tried it out tonight and it does help; I lured some scorched out into the open and shot 'em using VATS.

It's a lovely spot to stop and have a sing-along :-).

I was pleased today when I gained some Atoms for undertaking a quest and I also got a photo mode frame for visiting a location :-). There is some amazing scenery across the gameworld and I love how it has real verticality to it. I've spent more time exploring than camp building recently; mainly 'cos I lost all my camp stuff by not storing it when I last moved. I have to collect materials again before I can make it as cool as it was before.

It will have been automatically stored your stuff! It'll all be in (a) blueprint(s). You can choose to store the individual items from that if you don't want to/can't place it.

And yes I love the verticality of appalachia, it's really nice.
