Do it. It's worth it.

I still don't really like Chuck. But I'm kinda wondering where the show will go now.

One thing for sure, Kim is the best

I still find it so interesting how much some people seem to dislike Chuck, he's probably the best character in the show for me.

And I know Jimmy is supposed to be the guy we route for and becomes Saul who we all love to hate, but throughout everything we've seen Chuck continually demonstrate how he knows Jimmy for what he really is. Chuck calls him on all his gooseberry fool because he knows (rightly) that he is never going to change, is always going to do whatever he thinks is right, and as a result is always going to keep hurting people.

Chuck’s a banana split.

A great character but a banana split.

Jimmy is the banana split, Chuck just tried to stop him hurting more people.

Jimmy is a rogue, Chuck is a banana split.

Even if he is right, Chuck goes about it in a banana splitish way.

The point for me was that they were both banana splits, whereas Jimmy was an honourable banana split and Chuck a dishonest banana split.

How the strawberry float is Jimmy honourable?

Everything he does is for his own gain! He has taken actions to benefit himself which have been illegal and/or unethical and have either directly or indirectly led others to come to harm either physically, emotionally or financially!

My memory is a little faulty, but the majority of things he's done on the series, at least after the first, were generally for the good of someone. Sure, he's benefited too, but it's not like he conned a load of old folks into his firm then ripped them off! Perhaps his most elaborate scam was to right a wrong done to Kim! And he confessed to it when he thought he'd gone too far!

Chuck slowly dipped down to Jimmy's level over the course of the seasons, but for no other reason than to hurt Jimmy himself.

He turned the only friends an old lady had left in the world against her just for the possibility of getting some cash!

He forged documents to mislead a client!

He encouraged someone who we are supposed to believe is his best friend into back sliding into a life of petty crime that ultimately led to his early death!

He stole from his parents bit by bit over the years and was a contributing factor in them losing their business and ultimately their fathers death!

He was a key factor in encouraging Kim down a path that has caused her to risk losing her career and has left her stretched to the point of nearly losing her life!

And that's just some of the stuff I can remember off the top of my head.

A lot of that is just a list of his actions given free from context and the rest happened early in his arc. And I straight up disagree about the Kim thing; he gave her the self confidence and respect that had been so lacking in her life and allowed her to strike out on her own rather than exist in a system clearly stacked against her.

This is what I love about the show, the writing is so incredibly nuanced that people are able to hold completely opposing opinions about each character, and both are valid. I disagree with you, but I see where you're coming from.

I don't think there is much context that could be added to justify those actions but I would agree that a huge strength of the show is that they leave enough room for this kind of interpretation.

With Kim I agree that there is no doubt that Jimmy gave her some honest encouragement and boosted her confidence, but I also believe that a part of it was his wanting to pull her away to stick one to Chuck and HHM. Also in many ways her leaving was a benefit to him - he was not in a position to set up on his own without doing it alongside Kim, she even becomes a financial crutch to him when his own practice is struggling. This need to support Jimmy, and in some ways I believe to impress him, is what leads Kim into a place that is not good for her.

Boosting someone's confidence is a great thing, but not if it is pushing them into a place that is bringing them to harm, and not if it wasn't really done with their best intentions at heart.

Juat to be clear though - Chuck abaolutely was a dick in many ways. But I believe from the things we have either seen Jimmy do in the show or Jimmy's past actions that have been alluded to, that Chuck was justified in being a dick!

The only out and out banana splitish thing Jimmy has done was making the old ladies turn on their friend. That was unforgivable, even if he tried to make amends.

Chuck is still an insufferable banana split though.

If you can't handle Saul at his worst, then you don't deserve him at his Jimmy.

Finished season 3 such a good show. Chuck is a proper twat. Jimmy isn't much better but he doesn't pretend to be anything than what he is.
