Better Call Saul - prequel to Breaking Bad. Series Finale out now on Netflix.

We recently rewatched BB (third time around) and it's still so good. The tone of series 1 is so different to the rest, it really is like a black comedy. The end run of episodes is incredible.

I don't think Kim will die at all - I believe she is still alive in the Gene timeline. I think worst case this will be a wake up call that they weren't as clever as they thought with the spouse privilege thing and that if Saul is 'in the game' she is too and Saul may break up with her to protect her. She will definitely be in all of season 6.

What an episode - most tense scene in television. There was parallel between how Kim handled Kevin after the settlement business and how she handled Lalo. There's no point trying to predict next episode - like seriously has this show every gone in the direction you guess?

But Lalo knows about Nacho. Lalo spared Saul and Kim, both out of respect for standing up to him and because her words about Lalo not having anybody on his side he can trust hit home and he connected the dots about Nacho. Lalo didn't buy Kims story about the car - but he has bigger fish to fry, they're still both on Lalo radar.

Next episode will be Nachos final episode - if he doesn't die, Mike saves him and he's disappeared.

So I've just re-watched the last scene.

Watching it a second time I wondered what was Mikes motivation, first time I thought he was there to help Saul and Kim - but if Lalo had pointed his gun at Saul would Mike really have been willing to kill Lalo just to save Saul 'who is in the game' knowing all the gooseberry fool that would cause? The whole point has always been that Lalo mustn't be killed either in or out of prison outside of Mexico because it would lead 'to all out war'.

I now wonder did Mike instruct Saul to keep the phone going so he could hear if Saul was going to blow the story and tell Lalo Mike helped him across the desert (which would be a disaster). If Saul had told the truth (which it looked like he was about to crack 'I did whatever you think I did' just before Kim spoke up with) would Mike have actually been more likely to kill Saul. Under Mikes value system 'Saul is in the game' (Kim isn't though) from Mikes / Gus perspective Lalo being killed or letting Saul tell the truth about Mike involvement in the desert would be more unacceptable then Sauls death.

What I'm getting out is Mike shouldn't be willing to kill Lalo and he would avoid killing Saul and would definitely have a problem killing Kim so I wonder what he's actual motivation was.

One season to go I wonder if we will get another time jump as we are actually quite far from the events of breaking bad. We are in 2004 and the events of BB are from 2008. I wonder where Jimmy story will end, before BB, up to breaking bad and the story being told alongside Walt and Jesse's story (Walt and Jessie were just one set of clients and Saul had a life outside of Walt and Jessie during breaking bad which we didn't get to see). Also just realized Saul only gets at most four or five years of living the Saul successful life (with the office in BB, the Cadillac, a large amount of financial success) before he meets Walter and it all turns to gooseberry fool and he has to go in hiding.

Next season is 13 episodes maybe they are doing the usual 10 episodes of the Jimmy / Saul timeline then we'll get 3 in the Gene timeline?

Kim's speech about Saul being the only person Lalo can trust has obviously made him suspicious of Nacho.

Tony Dalton and Rhea Seehorn are locked in some kind of cage match for the title of most incredible performance, just brilliant stuff from them both throughout but especially in that last scene.

Have to echo the posters above, the last scene of this episode is insane. This show has seen some incredible acting from all of the main cast, Rhea Seehorn in particular has been amazing.
