I feel it is, lex - the characters are, for me, more mesmerising than the actual story. I haven't read too much so far about Mitchell being stripped of his records but - and I could be wrong - I think his original 874k record hasn't been called out as a cheat and he still stands as the first guy to get the max score on Pac-Man?

Mitchell is so full of himself, and comes out with so many wonderfully self-praising comments in the film, that it's fun to watch  .

The extras on the DVD are excellent, too - so many seriously hardcore gamers that are are so into their particular games of choice.

There's a lot more to it all from what I've been reading. The threads about this over on Resetera have been pretty decent actually. Lots of weird behaviour going on behind the scenes.

Here's a facebook post from someone who used to work at Twin Galaxies, who claims he was entirely discredited by Mitchell and his cronies. The whole thing sounds shady as hell.

I think it was the million point score that was called into question. It was the video delivered in the middle of the film that's got him into hot water.

It's now called the king of funky Kong and costs £49.99 to watch it again.

It's quite funny because a lot of people would defend him saying a lot of it was down to the editing but he's made himself look way worse than the documentary did.

 What kind of statement is that? What strikes me is the idea anyone would want to beleive such a buffoon, like he thinks he is some bastion of arcade gaming and someone would be very sad if their hero was a cheater. He's such a strawberry floating mug.

Mitchell is brilliant as a "bad guy", though. Real pantomime stuff and he does it superbly :) .

Their evidence: what someone feels :fp: Mitchell is still a banana split. GBoWR can strawberry float off, too.

Still unsure of who to regard as the biggest banana splits in all of these records cheating things: Billy Mitchell, Todd Rogers, Twin Galaxies or Guinness.

Mitchell>Twin Galaxies > Todd Rogers > Guinness. Guinness are just fools in this. Mitchell is a calculating piece of gooseberry fool who's long been enabled by Twin Galaxies. Rogers is just pathetic.

Phil and Grant need to go in there and sort him out.

Yeah I'd go with that ranking.

Guinness really aren't painting themselves in a good light at the moment though, with things like this and the recent spout of copyright claims they fired out against a whole load of speed runners on YouTube. :fp:

What was this?

They asked a Super Mario Bros. speedrunner if they could interview him and feature his WR run on their channel but then after uploading it suddenly loads of other SMB runners were hit with hundreds copyright claims from Guinness on their videos.

Guinness claim it was an error in their system for automatically detecting copyright infringement and apologised about the whole thing but I think it has left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth of the people who were affected.

Ouch

I can reason how that could happen in error, as presumably top-level SMB speedruns look very similar with people using the same routes and only slight differences in execution. It's undoubtedly a bad look though.
