Bioshock 1 is way better than 2 because of the sense of place. And it didn't have that exceptionally annoying, drawn out mechanic of - kill big daddy, get little sister, look for corpses 2/3 times, the whole defensive thing going on. Bioshock 1 was more immediate, which was better at driving the narrative forward. I mean, with this little sister harvesting mechanic in BS2, one level could take hours. Back tracking and traipsing about.

It was a very enjoyable game for the most part, but at the same time it was such a disappointment as it was billed as a spiritual successor to System Shock 2 and yet was an inferior experience in pretty much all areas.

Not sure where else to post this:

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/ ... 005224/en/

2K today announced the founding of Cloud Chamber™, the newest, wholly owned game development studio under the Company’s publishing label. A collective of storytellers eager to push the frontlines of interactive entertainment by making unique, entertaining and thoughtful experiences that engage the world, Cloud Chamber will build its team at two locations: 2K’s San Francisco Bay Area headquarters in Novato, Calif., as well as in Montréal, Québec, which marks the first-ever Canadian office for a 2K studio. In addition, 2K announced that Cloud Chamber has started to work on the next iteration of the globally acclaimed BioShock® franchise, which will be in development for the next several years. Just looked at the jobs page: there are 36 openings so yeah, I wouldn't expect a new title, or even news of it, before 2021

What do we reckon for setting; Rapture, Columbia or entirely new locale?

Jeez, 10 years. That got to me, I'd just bought a house, was about to get married and had my whole life ahead of me when this came out.

Interesting, but judging by the information in that article, I'd guess they're restarting it for a second time at this new studio.

I loved it on the 360, and as I went back playing it on the PS3 and PS4 years later, I found the combat system to be a bit clunky.

We're now up to fifteen years!

I got my Xbox 360 console alongside Bioshock, on the day the game launched back in August 2007. Still not played too much of it as it creeps me out... but I love the style and presentation! I played a fair amount of Bioshock Infinite and really enjoyed that; but it feels like I need to return to the whole trilogy.

I cant believe it's been 15 years. That is terrifying.

Great game. I have never gone back to it, but I remember it feeling like a real step up in quality when compared to just about everything else at that time.

I also remember watching "that trailer" about 50 times. Some of the best use of licenced music in a game trailer ever.

If there’s any game that rewards a replay, it’s this one. So many different things you’ll notice a second time round.
Don’t play it on Series X though - crash central.

Bioshock 1 and the subsequent trilogy are among the best games I've ever played.

Not entirely sure I'd want a fourth installment as the end of Bioshock Infinite and it's DLC tie it all up perfectly.

A next gen trip to Rapture would suck me back in however.

Played trilogy on my Series X 3 times over - no crashes.

Start a new game and it will ask you if you want to import your plasmids etc
