I had a fit of hyperventilation at my daughter's birth, as it was very stressful and sudden. My hand went into spasms (which I later found is a fairly common effect) so my main memory of her being born is lying on a bed shouting "WHY IS MY HAND A CLAW?". They wheeled me out in a wheelchair until I'd calmed down.
