Good angry black music - Bad Brains, there is a track of theirs on the LCHC radio station in GTAIV. If you are unfamiliar with them they are kinda a like hardcore punk with a few dub/reggae tunes thrown in. Songs to look out for - I against I.

Going the other way, Roni Size Reprazent - New Forms is immense.

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions. I used to hate old Stevie until I heard this.

Bad Brains are insane. I listen to their first two albums (the hardcore ones) pretty regularly, but I (hush) tend to skip the reggae/dub tracks. I also have the I against I vinyl, which looks pretty sweet as it's white vinyl instead of black.
Songs to look out for are: Attitude, Sailin' On, How low can a punk get?, At the movies, Don't Need it, Pay to Cum.
What's cool is to listen to the different versions of some tracks, as each version has something unique to it.

How old are you?

Amazing stuff, I was a barman at the last Northern Soul night in what was once the Wigan Casino.

THAT'S what I was trying to think of that was the Northern Soul thing, 'cos I know Wigan Pier is the mingin dance music for horrible charvers and scum, but I knew there was Wigan-something that was good! Thank you!

Wigan Pier is dire. Went there once and never again, yet all of work (and my sister) seem to adore it.

Bad Brains used to be awesome but they're now just sad homophobes.

Gutted.

Nice one, Octoroc!

I've had the wee MP3 of the Bod theme for a while.

Beans wrote:My friend accused me of being racist because I dont like any R'n'B, Hip Hop or other urban music. Can you lot think of any good black music? I like Bob Marley, but cant think of too many others

Weeeeeeeell for me:

Grover Washington Jr. (probably my favourite)
Earth Wind and Fire
James Brown
Kool and the Gang
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Marley
Will Smith
Michael Jackson (the "Beat It" days)

In all 70's funk, Soul, Northern Soul, Jazz, and Blues the Black artists do it best.

I would like to say though, RnB and ESPECIALLY what some people like to call "Reggae" of today's music is mostly crap. A lot of it I could do myself in less than 2 hours and then pay someone to sing on it. I won't do that because it's just not good music.

People that buy a good car, fit the best sound system ever in it and then play songs with a 909kick, 909snare, hat, and a voice for all the instruments should really start over and find out what real music is.

Black music?

I think that condition is known as synesthesia.

Ha, Durrty Goodz. I remember when he used to be called Dutty Doogz, and have "beef" with Wiley. Good times.

Mate that's old, he's still the boy now though, nobody can bring it to Doogz, especially not Wiley, he's a joke really, gets merked by everyone nowadays, standard.
