Postblack stuff
by still » Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:19 pm

It has been a long week - thank god its friday !, thank god its the last day of winter !, thank god tomorrow is the first day of spring !, (and also that there's quite a lot of rugby on the telly tomorrow...)

Time to go to ye olde, (and bob dylan approved), co-op to purchase some, (which roughly translates as eight cans), of the black stuff.

Question is, being a bit of a marmite product, who else is in and who else would rather drink hestor blumental's frog flavoured tizer ??

Just to make things over-complicated - you can all have up to six votes... (just in case you like it in all its forms)

I've only had it in a can, with a widget.

Was alright, I suppose. I didn't really like beer at the time though (in fact I wouldn't until months later when I discovered Grolsch).

I do like guiness if the pub doesn't have a good choice of Ales and I'm not in the mood for lagers.

When I'm playing Darts for my local pub team, I find guiness is easier to neck in between darts and because of the lack of bubbles, I won't need to burp mid-throw. Quite handy.

But, I'm right into Bombardier Satanic Mills and Hogs Back O.T.T at the minute for strong, dark stouts. Much more tasty.

Irish Guinness is much different to the piss you get served in the UK.

Yes because they save the good stuff for a minority meaning profits decline, just because it's patriotic or some bs.

 Have you ever even tasted Guinness in Ireland? I don't know what the explanation is, but it does taste much better than in England. And the Guinness in the actual brewery tastes even better than the stuff in Dublin city.

I haven't had it yet, I'm interested as to what it tastes like though.

I love the stuff. Never had a pint outside of Ireland though so I cant say if its any better or worse beyond these shores. But I do prefer Murphys to Guinness, can be hard to find a good pint of Murphys outside of Cork though.

Yup, Murphy's > Guiness.

They used to sell it everywhere but it's hard to find draught these days.

Guiness really does taste better in Ireland for some reason.

When I was in Dingle, there was one pub I really liked.. tiny little place.
And the Guiness I had there was the best I've ever tasted.

Perhaps they take care of the kegs/pipes better than we do over here?

I can honestly say that the pint I had in the Guinness brewery was one of the worst I've ever had in my life.

This whole "It tastes better in Ireland" thing is aload of bollocks IMO.
You find a decent pub that knows how to look after its cellar and it'll be just fine.

Anyway, all the real fans know that the best (and original) stuff comes in those little bottles.
