My favourite beer by far.

Mommy, for some years now the "piss we get served in the UK" has been Dublin brewed Guiness, and it's lovely, although the old London stuff wasn't bad either.

The top four options for me. Used to hate it when i first started drinking, but then started liking my ales and decided to try it again. Hell yeah. Its good stuff, and i agree with the point that when you get a decent pub that knows how to keep pipes and stuff clean then it's at its best.

On a more serious note I do like a good Guiness. It's much better than the shite Lagers most pubs have on tap. I do find after 5 or 6 pints that need to move onto cider, just to be able to taste something.

I've only drank it properly once, and it was barely finishable. I think I could learn to love it though.

Guiness is strawberry floating quality mayne.

The clubs that sell it round here are strawberry floats though mayne, most of them water it down.

I'll take a pint of Guiness over pretty much any other drink.

If you ever go to Dingle again head for Dick Macs, proper old Irish pub, might actually have been the place you were in anyway. Was there old shoes all over the back wall?

As for the cleaning thing, all the brewerys in Ireland clean their beerlines in the pubs for free. Started doing it about 10 years ago because the pubs werent doing it themselves.

i've literally just got back home after going out for a meal (steak mmmmm) and had a tasty guiness mmm soup soup

Can't remember the name. Nor any shoes.

It was right at the top of the main road in Dingle. Just up from a small music (instrument) shop. Round the corner from a Jazz bar.
It had a tiny pub in the front, and then a large room in the back for bands and stuff.

Landlord there was really friendly and stuff, and answered all my (half pissed) questions about Ireland.
And he gave me a free Whisky whilst I waited for them to finish cleaning the guiness pipes.

Definitely go there again given half a chance.

Seeing as the whole of the UK is supplied by the Dublin brewery it is only the cleanliness of the lines and the freshness of the cask.

Think about it, in central Dublin where any tourist may find themselves, they'll not have a cask for much more than a couple of days and if the brewery does indeed clean the pipes - although god knows why, it's not a difficult job - then I can imagine the Guinness does taste better. However, virtually anywhere else in the UK, Guinness casks an be as old as two weeks - and certainly they were in the pub where I worked. While there's nothing wrong with the beer that comes out, I'd only ever drink fresh cask beer (plus we always kept our lines super clean) and it always tasted 100% better than any other Guinness I had in my local town.

But yeah, it's not some super secret Irish conspiracy.

Ah, I do like my Guinness. Cans are alright, bottles are better, draught in a pub is great if the pub is good but nothing comes close to some of the pints I've had in Connemara (west of Galway, I feel the need to clarify because every Irishman I've met over the last few months has no sodding clue where the place is). Heavenly isn't enough to describe how damn fine it was, got through five pints in 40 minutes, it just went down so well. I maintain that the best pint of Guinness I've ever had was in a pub in Clifden, ruddy gorgeous.

i've never been able to taste the difference in guiness from the UK and Ireland, probabely because i only live 8 miles away from Ireland.
