Bleeding Edge Is a New Xbox Hit in the Making – Hands-on
Bleeding Edge demonstrates not only Microsoft’s willingness to enliven its lineup of exclusives, but that Ninja Theory’s first official foray into multiplayer isn’t an amateur effort. Rahni Tucker and her team have produced something truly special. With such a solid foundation, the title has the potential for even greater growth down the road. I can’t wait for the full release on March 24, but until then, at least I can jam along to the game’s fantastic main theme.
Even with a couple of blemishes present, I still had an absolute ball with the Bleeding Edge beta when I was able to go on the offensive. Sure, the lack of a role queue is a massive oversight, and I didn't much enjoy the ranged combat, but I'm excited to clash swords with more of the cast and uncover all their mechanical intricacies in the second beta session that begins on March 13. Be sure to check back for the full review for Bleeding Edge right around when it launches on March 24.
Bleeding Edge doesn’t carve out a new path for the PVP battle arena, but the beta offered glimmers of hope that it could be the next game in the genre to pour countless hours - both happy and mad - into. I’m excited to see what comes next.
Besides a couple of balancing issues and small fixes, Bleeding Edge is shaping up to be a very competent hero fighter. In a sea of competition, it seems to be different enough to swim on its own. It launches on March 24th for PC Xbox One via Game Pass.
Games like Bleeding Edge sometimes fail to establish an early player base. This can sometimes mean them not receiving the ongoing support they desperately need. Microsoft’s backing and the game’s widespread availability through Game Pass will hopefully result in a well-polished game that sees support well into the future.

Hey Everyone! Thank you so much for supporting our launch! Here are some common issues and requests we are aware of and working on:
Unlock 60 FPS (PC)
We're aware that some of you requested we unlock the framerate on PC. We hear you, and to clarify the core network of Bleeding Edge will always run at 60 FPS, like with fighting games. However, we are currently looking into how we can remove the visual lock on frames to make the game look and feel better for those of you with suitable hardware.
Fail to Connect Issue (Steam)
We have received reports of players in Australia and China being unable to connect to online services on Steam. We are investigating this issue and will deploy a fix as soon as we are able. Thank you for your patience!
Lag & Stability (all platforms)
We have highlighted reports of lag and instability from players. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by network instability, and the team are working hard to find a solution for affected players.
Localisation (all platforms)
We are aware of some localisation errors in Bleeding Edge, particularly with Spanish and Korean. We are committed to fixing these issues as soon as possible so that you can fully enjoy Bleeding Edge in your preferred language.
Bleeding Edge is about carefree scraps with a few pals you just met against some random chancers, not unlike a night out in Cheam, actually. Hit FIGHT and the game finds you a match with as little fuss as possible. Hopefully you're playing with people who stick together, rather than waddle off like some maddening toddler speeding towards their inevitable doom. Rinse and repeat, the hidden rating system (hopefully) working behind the scenes to huddle players of similar skill level together. If you lose - oh well, you get a completion bonus, some experience points and a handful of credits. Win and you get a few more. Do I think Game Pass and the Lockdown (both of which sound like characters in the game) will carry Bleeding Edge till the summer? The combat is just about good enough to get away with it for now, but without some meaningful updates I'll probably lose interest sooner rather than later.
There's a decent multiplayer action game concept buried in here, absolutely. Some of these characters deserve to live on in future projects. At the same time, it feels like there are only so many team dynamics to experience. It's all too fleeting. Once you've hit that point of no return, there's no real motivation to continue. I'd like to pick this back up one day, but realistically, I don't see that happening.
If you're even remotely interested in Bleeding Edge, play it now while the matchmaking is still lively.
Photek wrote:Most people are pointing to it's bare bones launch, im in 2 minds as to why they launched like this but, then again, having actual players playing it means they can iron out any issues plus I reckon they'll be adding in more and more characters over time. Not saying it'll be like how Sea of Thieves evolved into an Excellent game but it has the potential to.
