Interesting to see Nike taking part in backing censorship.

Presumably the something they believe in is the same something as the other companies on the list.

Or "even if it means sacrificing everything" doesn't mean an actual financial cost.

I'm sorry to have to tell everyone, but Trelliz has decided to leave GRcade permanently.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I have received funds via wire transfer, I don't even know what currency china uses but that's probably enough zeros.

Goodbye forever

It's weird that I have no memory or knowledge of that in my brain. It's probably because globalisation refers to sodding everything in US dollars, including Chinese investments overseas - which is the most we generally hear about it.

To be fair if that's the worst crime the village suffers from then I think we'd all be fine with an angry goose.

Talking about Hong Kong on Blizzards forums will now get you a 1000 year ban...

I guess this is what happens when you do billions of dollars of business as part of a global enterprise in authoritarian quasi-communist state.

I honestly wouldn't blame him for not expressing an opinion given, you know, what happened to the other guy.

Peter Crisp wrote:Why the hell are Blizzard doing this?
Surely they can do what pretty much every other company ever has done and simply say "The views of our players or staff members playing the game don't necessarily represent those of Blizzard itself!" and boom, problem solved.

Update on the Apple entry from that tweet list - they did let the app in to the appstore, but then they banned it again:

Apple removes app used in Hong Kong protests after pressure from China

Apple has removed HKmap.live, a crowdsourced mapping app widely used by Hong Kong residents, from the App Store. The app and accompanying web service has been used to mark the locations of police and inform about street closures during the ongoing pro-democracy protests that have engulfed Hong Kong this year.

:fp:

I saw a tweet earlier that basically said “Apple would have removed an app keeping Anne Frank safe from its App Store if it protected their market share in Germany”.
