[is]When you spot its laser tells you need to release lock-on, back-up a bit and start dodging to one side/running diagonally[/is].

I'm having to do quite a bit of farming just now as the Blood Starved Beast is proving to be a pest. I've got him down to the last bit of his energy bar a few times but he's still beating me. I end up using a bunch of antidotes so then need to farm to buy some more.

I did go back to the machine gun Hunter and 'accidentally' pushed him off the roof. Had a wee read to see if I could do anything with the gun and found out that there was an alternative to taking him out :(

I'm not sure if there's anywhere else I can go other than fighting the BSB. It feels like I've explored everywhere I can, with any progress being hampered by locked doors or gates.

The one place I haven't been is the bit that the other Hunter is guarding, should I be trying to take him on? Or is there anywhere else somebody can suggest?

All you missed by not reaching gun guy via Paarl is a gesture.

One of the locked gates can be opened right now but will cost you a 10k blood echo purchase from messenger vendors in the Dream (Hunter Chief Emblem). If you beat BSB it opens of its own accord.
Yes, try and take down the hunter who's patrolling near bottom of gun tower.
There is also a great shortcut which leads back to Old Yharnam lamp and makes trek to BSB very easy.

Thank you :) I'd opened up that shortcut already, it definitely makes getting to him easier. I'll just keep trying to defeat the BSB.

Bought myself the Kirk Hammer to see if a change of tactics works.

Kirk is okay. Just make sure you buy Ludwig when it becomes available.

Stayed up until 2am last night playing this. Feel wounded today; my tolerance for my manic 22-month daughter is on a knife-edge.
I took a break from main game and finally started the first Chalice Dungeon. Got far enough to get the next two chalices (Hintertomb and Loran), and was going to call it a night, but couldn't resist going back to Amygdala and kicking its arse.
Knackered, but feel like I accomplished quite a bit.

They are infact one and the same. It just alternates between using one or the other at various points during the fight.

So these chalice dungeons...I got to the end of the first one, pulled a lever and some door opened, and behind it was another lamp? :?

They have multiple floors... unless you mean a badly laid out random dungeon which I hear can happen.

There should be a lift that you step on to activate.

Yeah, I've been working through the chalices too.
Got to the bottom of Pthumarian and called it a night at the greatsword guy, chime maiden, sack dude, jobber zombies and centipede room because I forgot to pack pebbles and drawing them doesn't really work without them there. I'll finish Pthumeru tomorrow and see what the next is all about.

My Ebrietas fight

Looking at the trophy list I've done what look to be all the optional bosses and there's two hidden ones left under the one reborn. Must be near the end now :(

Going to do nightmare mensis now, just to be clear is it REALLY obvious the game is about to end as I want to get everything in the world before moving to NG+

I really like the chalice bosses.
Sometimes more than the mainline bosses.
They're pretty easy but that might just be because I'm overlevelled for Pthumarian chalices.

Can't afford to do the rest yet so I guess I'll finish up the Nightmare.
