The dungeon itself isn't that hard, it's just the boss was three of those fat guys in a really confined space. I'd fought them in an earlier dungeon and pretty much one shotted them so here was a shock to have to fight properly again. I found easy bits make you dull to proper fighting, so when you encounter enemies that take more than a few hits you have to really get back on it.

Just unlocked the first shortcut in NoM.
Gonna sleep now but I think by looking at my trophies I might be on the final stretch.
Could someone remind me on where the point of no return is via a spoiler and also include the easiest way of seeing all three endings please?
I have
three umbilical cords.

Who was it who was having trouble with Rom for ages? I've just got there and could do with some tips. Seems like a really long grind basically, or am I missing something..?

Nope. It's a bit of a grind. After first phase you need to keep an eye on what Rom is doing, after you kill one or two spiders, to see if he's cast falling/rising meteorites or his area of effect spell. Repeat until spiders dead.
With falling meteorites you just have to find a way to dodge most of them, but no matter how good/lucky you are you will be hit by one and that is when a large health pool helps. I had to raise mine to between 800-900 HP to have a good amount left over when struck.
Oh and watch hm when you get close to on third phase as he gains a new phtsical attack.

The way I did Rom was to just clear the spiders in stage 1 where he doesn't attack. Hit him until just before he teleports then go nuts with charged heavies. If you're lucky you'll stagger him out of his teleport and when he does eventually get away he'll be on next to no health. Then just rush him when he comes back before anything can act.

But this only works with heavy enough weapons, I imagine.

Think you might be talking about me :slol:

Way I did it eventually was being at least level 60. I wouldn't even bother killing the smaller spiders, waste of time. Basically keep running in with big attacks and quickly evading again. Stay too long attacking and you'll get over run by spiders and crashed by Roms close attack. Talking one hits here and then running back. When he teleports away, no doubt will do the falling ice attack. Look up and see where the first ice attack is coming. Run the opposite side of that attack and keep running in diagonal lines to avoid. Because the attack is so strawberry floating cheap, don't expect this to work every time.

There is also a cheap arse tactic of using the flame thrower too.

I can't remember what level I was, but I think 60 was a bit high.

That said, I was using Holy Blade which, as has been established, is easy mode.

And how do you avoid the spiders, projectiles, aoe and physical attacks? I've seen it work for a few people, running in and mashing R1, but most others will wonder if they're even playing the same game because, if they stay in close for more than a few hits and ignore everything else, something is going to get them.

Obviously the more damage resist/HP/strength you have the easier the mash R1 tactic becomes.

Chalice dungeon Rom is so much easier than the encounter in the main game due to the pillars around the room you can hide behind to avoid that shite projectile attach.

But what are his shit-projectiles attached to?

Anyway, I never buy guides. Why would you want to have a book that told you what to do? Where's the sense of discovery? The adventure? My copy arrives today.

This is my 'Spider Kindness' vid. I dodge the projectiles a few times too.
And I get hit by a few things. :datass:
There's a bit near the end where I could apply the finishing blow and just swing through air. It's quite funny. Forces the fight to be 30 secs longer than it needed to be.

Beat Rom last night on what was probably my 8th/9th go. Killed the spiders on his first phase and then ignored them the second time. He didn't get the chance to teleport more than once. :datass:
