At first i was very frustrated as i failed to make progress, but have since learnt how to play the game, but am far from mastering it - i never use my gun. I have beaten the cleric and am now just practicing and getting echoes to level up a bit.

I have found a few shortcuts on my travels and am really enjoying this game. Once you get into it and feel the games controls, there is no stopping you.

Rushing tends to lead to quick deaths, but trying to beat one foe at a time, especially the larger ones is pretty essential or you get overwhelmed.

Spiritual successor to demons souls? Well it feels like it a little at times in terms of the how the game is set out. I predict the sequel will be more open world like dark souls, but for now i shall saviour this game. I just hope i have enough skill and patience to complete this.

No idea, but i must have played over 4 hours now and haven't even seen much of the first main level, which is incredible!

A real coup for sony imo. I just hope team 2 do a good job with dark souls 3 as bloodborne is clearly a step above dark souls 2 in terms of controls, level design and the imaginitive enemies.

Bloodborne looks decent, but up close it really isn't the best looking game is it? I think this could run at 60fps on the ps4 easily if it was given more time to be developed. Still better frame rate than the souls games on ps3, so decent and the 1080p resolution really makes a good difference.

Ad is right.

PREY SLAUGHTERED. Is the greatest gaming message I've ever received. You'll still be hammering the buttons because you'll think the game is gonna strawberry float you over elsewhere.

And Gf as for looking good, it looks awesome. If you've got time to inspect it you're not trying hard enough.

Defiled chalice dungeon done. Facing the last too floors bosses with half health was really rough. Just have to get the living string now, and then I've got the final chalice dungeon and the final secret boss.

Once that's done, just got to finish the game for a third time and that's the platinum!

Just beaten Shadows of Yarnham and Rom on NG++, first time, went in not realising I had only two blood vials... Still managed it though, He's really easy after a while.

I'm playing it safe and trying to level up more before i get further into the game! I may try and upgrade my axe too if i can get one more shard.

I guess i will use the gun later on in the game right? At the moment i never use it or when i do i time it all wrong on the larger enemies.

On the whole the graphics are good, but upclose everything is pretty low res when comparing it to earlier games like assassins creed black flag. Animation are scale are good though.

I think that's me done with this game now. Don't have the patience or the time to do the cursed dungeons with half health and one-hit kill bosses. No real incentive to go any further with NG+ either since there's no changes like what they did in Dark Souls 2 and summoning people into your game is still strawberry floated (never had summoning or being summoned work in the chalice dungeons either). £30 trade in at Game so that's pretty decent.

Downed father gascoigne on my second go - a real tutorial for the visceral attack, which i must say is just as exciting as dodging past your opponent and slashing them from behind.

I guess the game is built around the whole new risk and reward mechanic and its pretty fun and very satisfying once you get past a few enemies and then a boss!

Will continue on this throughout the week and it is safe to say this is the best console exclusive non remaster this generation.

Just beat the secret optional boss in the chalice dungeons for the gold trophy. It's a difficult and confusing fight, but easier than I expected. Just got to finish the game for a third time and I've got the platinum! :D

When my hunter raised his arms in triumph after downing Gascoigne I don't think I've ever felt better during a game. I had to stuff my hands in my mouth to stop from yelling out in happiness.

I'm up to the third boss now, only had a single go but she doesn't seem as bad as Gazza. Think I've finally figured out visceral attacks now too, even managed to do one on the second generation werewolf dudes (the ones with what appear to be giant combs).

I just love the sense of progression the game engenders. You're never not going forwards, even if you're grinding for blood or echoes you always feel like you're progressing. And the atmosphere... Man. Gothic as gooseberry fool.

It does roll off the tongue, doesn't it?

Played a bit more of this and am getting used to the visceral attack, which is pretty satisfying isn't it? The level design so far has been brilliant - i hope there is more variety as i get through the game though.

That's the only stumble I found with Bloodborne. The enemy designs are great, I just wish there were more of them.

I thought it was pretty daft how if you do a NG+ run, blood stone chunks aren't available until much later on in the game. They should have made them purchasable from the messengers or a high sum, or even from the insight well.

What is the 'eye' symbol on the top right of the screen? Is that insight for the bell thing to summon an npc?

Yeah, you get it by seeing things like eldritch locations or bosses and popping madman's knowledge/Old One's Wisdom as well as helping someone beat a boss.

Used to ring the beckoning bell, buy items from messengers and generally alter how the world acts.

I have a few of the madmans thing and coins, but am not sure what to do with them tbh.

Got past father gascoigne and levelled up again. Did a little bit after gascoigne and the visceral attack comes in handy on the new enemies.

The game feels pretty amazing and the gameplay on the whole is a little more rewarding than Demons/ Dark Souls. I think the only real improvement to the game would be implementing a rock solid, consistent 30fps and the ability to travel from lantern to lantern, although the latest patch has improved load times a lot (not that I would notice as I bought the game post patch).

The game uses a lot of dark souls gameplay mechanics, but is so fresh and new at the same time.
