I'm going to download this for free and see just how hard it is as I've never played a Souls game or anything like this before,I'll wager that like most games,it's actually rather easy.

I fancy I'll have completed it by the end of the week.

Yeah that'll be tough if you've never played a Souls game before.

Started a new character and beat the first werewolf with my bare fists 8-) Holy gooseberry fool I always forget how bad the camera is for the Cleric Beast :dread:

Still need to get this finished. Think I might just try and power through it all on Friday/Saturday after I've got this damned essay handed in. Be nice to have an influx of new people for PvP, I've shied away from it so far because I'm assuming till now it'll have been mostly the really good people still playing.

Just remember, if this woman can beat Bloodborne as her first Fromsoft game: you can, too

But yeah, eventually things just click and you'll understand what you're doing. That is the essence of 'gittin gud'.

Played for ten minutes, got killed by a wolf thing then wandered about a small outside area with all of the doors locked.

Not my cup of tea whatsoever.

Deleted file.

I started Bloodborne ages ago and kinda ran away quite quickly. But, having seen The Watching Artist play through Souls II recently, I'm tempted to give Bloodborne another go. I like the environments and the style but I fear the constant "you died now do it all again lol" may push me to the limit.

Might try it again, though.

Trying to get a mate at work to play this. I gave him a shot of Demon's Souls a few years ago and he didn't play past the intro tutorial section because he found it too scary.

Do you mean the Hunter's Dream? That's just the hub world, you can pick up starting weapons from the little grey dudes who pop out of the floor then go back to the hospital by interacting with the first gravestone, and then you get to give that wolf a good arse-kicking. You're pretty much supposed to die to that first wolf, it's basically a way of introducing the hub and the concept of dying and re-awakening.
As you progress through the game those doors will start opening up and you'll get more options as to what to do, you just have to reach a boss or get an item called the Madman's Knowledge first.

I would recommend giving it another go. The Souls series reputation of relentlessly beating the player down is vastly overblown, I don't mean that with the condescending "git gud" attitude either, they're certainly more difficult than most other games on the market, but they are nowhere near being unbeatable for anyone who even slightly knows how to use a controller. Learning the level design and discovering shortcuts that lessen the impact of your deaths is a great feeling in this game.

It's not a game anyone should feel bad for resorting to help to get through either. The online functionality is there for a reason after all, even if only to reassure you that yes, other people are having it just as rough as you.

Too late,I've deleted it now. I can generally tell early on if I'm going to like something though, and this just didn't feel like the kind of game I could get into.

Ah well, his loss.

I'm genuinely envious of the people getting to play this for the first time just now. Thinking about Bloodborne gives me more pleasure than playing most other games.

Two or three new areas and about as many bosses, plus new enemies and weapons. It's really good.

What is in the DLC?

Three areas (two of which were my favourite in the entire game), five bosses, a bunch of new weapons.
Experience an all new story set in the chilling world of Bloodborne™.
Long ago, the old hunters buried terrible secrets in the ruins of Byrgenwerth. But they are about to be unearthed. Explore brand new environments, including the Clock Tower and the Hunter’s Nightmare – all filled with danger, rewards and deadly bosses – and learn the harrowing tale of hunters who once made Yharnam their playground.
You’ll find multiple outfits and new transformable weapons to add to your arsenal, including Simon’s Bowblade for a new experience with ranged combat. Play with dark spells and transform yourself into a horrific beast. Welcome back to Yharnam…
