I've been eyeing up the galaxy earbuds, but before i dropped £100 i wondered what the audiophiles of GRcade thought was best.

I need them for general use and gym. Noise cancelling is nice.

£100? Nah mate, you need to drop at least £800 and that'll only get you a semi decent pair for casual use.

I've pretty much just been using iPhone earbuds. Before Christmas I bought the Sony WH-CH700N for about £77. It's so great not having to untangle headphones. But for me the massive revelation is noise cancelling, going on the train and tube there is so much ambient noise, even from people talking. But when I have these I can hear the music properly and switch off from everybody, it also means I can have the volume quieter which is better for your hearing. They're not designed for the gym but I do wear them for some runs, although they get overly hot on my ears. It also means that I can hear my music in the gym above the crap they sometimes play. Noise cancelling for me is essential.

If you are getting earbuds you want to know that they will fit your ears and not fall out -it's why I can't buy they Apple ones, because the bud always falls out of my right ear. If you are getting sports headphones with the over ear grip it needs to be comfortable, I bought a cheap pair from Amazon and they were agony so I sent them back.

I agree about the noise cancelling. Absolute game changer on transport.

I too wanted to cut the cord and so recently took the plunge on two sets - Sony XM3 overhead and Jabra elite active 65t in-ears.

The Sonys are a great premium set with excellent sound and features. An absolute essential for me on plane travel as it blocks out all the awful noise and are comfortable to wear.

The Jabras I got mostly for the gym, but they're regularly becoming my daily wearers for when I don't have a bag with me to carry the sonys, or in the hot weather which I find can make wearing an overhead set too warm and uncomfortable. The depth of sound has really surprised me with these tiny things. Sweat proof as well.

Has to be the Sony WF-1000XM3, which as far as quality must be up there as one of the best product launches from Sony since the PlayStation. Can be picked up for around £200. Curry's and John Lewis have got them in if you fancy a listen.

I have them, they are pretty good. I'm not an audiophile so can't say if they are epic or whatever for sound but they sound scent for me.

They do have some issues with Bluetooth breakup at a distance, and the in ear detection sometimes goes a bit wrong and it makes its "you've just put me in your ear" sound every few seconds but this only every so often and taking them out and putting back in tends to sort it.

They are getting pretty frequent updates and issues are definitely improving.

Battery on this is very good and the case charges them too which is good, the case can be wirelessly charged too so when I get I just drop the case ob my charger and they are all good.

Lovely headphones.

I just checked these out online, they seem to have everything i want minus the IP waterproofing. Not sure how they'll hold up in the gym.

Interestingly they're not even launched yet, do you have them?

I've been using the Galaxy Buds since they released. Honestly, they are pretty good. I'm no audiophile but it does its job,and i really like yellow buds for some reason.
That being said,if you're to listen music for a long time, they can get uncomfortable if you don't have the right eartips. It took me a lot of trial and error, but it's really convenient. USB-C + Wireless charging makes it really easy to just charge, take and go. Perhaps you can find a lot better if you don't mind the wire ear to ear,but i think they're a solid choice for me.

Has anyone used Bluetooth earbuds on anything other than a phone?

I was looking at some Sennheiser ones to use with my PC but noticed that almost every reviewer on Amazon was using them exclusively with a phone so wasn't sure how useable they'd be without their app, also most seem to have touch controls and I can't physically raise my hands to actually use them (I'd need someone to help me put them in my ears) so not sure if they'd suit my needs.

I'm actually in the mood for some noise cancelling headphones. I tries a couple of the more affordable BOSE ones, but found the sound quite tame. Any songs with bass seemed too flat.

Anyone tried noise cancelling ear buds? Any good?

They aren't noise-cancelling but I love my Marshall Monitor wireless headphones. Approx. £170, last time I checked.

You might be looking at the yet to be released XM4. The XM3 has been out for a year or two.

I used mine in the gym for a bit, but honestly I found they got too hot and sweaty which is both uncomfortable and probably not good for them long term. That's why I got the Jabras for the gym.

Though to be clear, I would come to the same conclusion for any overhead set in gym use, but that's down to personal comfort/preference.

Been using then exclusively for about 3 years and would never go back to wired ones.

And there's the proof!

But seriously. It's too easy to put your phone down with Bluetooth earbuds, walk away, forget where you left the phone etc.

They're just a menace!
