Went to see The Martian, three adverts loosely promoting their product/Bond. Came home, instantly Bond trailer and then a Bond CD on TV. strawberry float. Off :|

The ads contribute such a huge amount to the budget. I mean, I know Skyfall basically made a trillion dollars last time, but the film's probably still get made simply because sponsorship accounts for about half the cost.

Skyfall made over five times its budget at the box office, I'm pretty sure they'd still make them without any sponsorship money.

I saw the film yesterday and it is excellent. I would have to agree about Bellucci though - she is really only there to move the plot along.

Interesting to see some more opinions when others have seen it.

I know it's Casino Royale, but this is probably about as intrusive as product placement gets!

You could argue that is a bit of fan service as most will know that James Bond wears Omega.

I remember one of the Brosnan ones being particularly bad with JCB taking up the entire screen and BMW being everywhere.

at the risk of being labelled a troll...

Quantum of Solace > Casino Royale > Spectre > Skyfall

They never fixed the end of the script with Spectre, the movie didn't need Blofeld in it, and forcing him in means the movie has too much to wrap up and we have what feels like two endings. The film goes on for far too long as a result which is why I can't sit it in front of QoS or CR, the story does largely make sense however (apart from Blofeld and his reasons) which is why I find it a more enjoyable movie than Skyfall.

A bit more time on the script and it could have been better, one of the best Bond movies even. It's a shame they rushed it out before they lose the licence this year.

I wish they would just have gone back to the ridiculousness of old Bonds. They try to make it dark and gritty but it doesn't work when they have secret evil lairs, punchlines, forced motivations of characters, and maybe the thing that annoys me the most about these Daniel Craig movies... Q having infographics for information he has only just learned.

Didn't like the CGI over practical effects either, something Bond always used to steer away from.

Loved it too. Cinema was nicely packed. Biggest pop of the night came from Ralph Fiennes

Saw this last night at a sold out IMAX screening. Spoilers within.

So good to see the gun barrel back at the start, and that day of the dead intro was beautiful to watch. The title sequence was the most Bond it's been in ages too, very cool looking. It definitely felt like Bond was a proper cold assassin in this, something that I would say we haven't seen since Casino. Speaking of Casino, I enjoyed Spectre a lot more than Skyfall but it definitely falls short of beating craig's first Bond outing for me. I think Sam Mendes is trying so hard to force classic Bond moments into this that like Skyfall before it, it at times feels like a 'greatest hits' Bond film.

It was great that Bond finally had a Bond car this time around, even if the sequence was ruined somewhat by a forced "comedy" moment. Phoning Moneypenny in between it also shook off the threat of Mr Hinx chasing him. Hinx himself wasn't a bad character but strawberry float it if he wasn't trying to be the new oddjob.

Moneypenny and Q are basically to Bond now what the IMF team are to Ethan Hunt, which I can't say is neither good nor bad, it just means they have more screen time. This brings me to the newest character Christoph Waltz's "Oberhauser" or Ernst Stavro Blofeld. He was good, but a very predictable villian in ways. He had so many chances to kill Bond, yet fiddled around with typical villian one liners. Saying that, it was nice to see how he was tied up with previous Bond villians.

Madeleine Swann falling in love with Bond so quickly felt very silly, and it was apparent how much they wanted to replicate Vesper.

It's probably coming across that I didn't enjoy alot of Spectre, I did, but there things in the movie that stop it from being excellent. I really hope this is Craig's last time as Bond, not because I don't want him back as Bond, but after that ending I'd like to think he finally got what he deserved. His DB5 back. ;)

That was amazing.

Have to say that I wasn't really all that impressed and I didn't go in with any expectations either. The plot seemed poorly paced and jumped around all over the place.

Very much agreed with what you said.

I think Bond realised he has a choice at the end, so he chose to be with Dr Madeleine Swann (Remind me of Tracy) and it could also meant that his mission was over from beloved M (Judi Dench). In a way, the ending was very open for people to suggest what they could do for the next Bond film.

I am intriguing to see more of Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the next Bond film if they plan to continue the story and they should keep Christoph Waltz, as you could felt his creepy presence during the film. Also, his acting and talks were class, I thought.

I personally would love to see Daniel Craig to return as Bond 25 with Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. If there is ever a chance of Sam Mendes to come back to do the finale as I thought he did brilliantly with Skyfall and now Spectre.

The PTS - it could be like this. Bond with Madeleine somewhere really nice and romantic until Blofeld orders his organisation to kill her. M orders Bond to return the Mi6 and tell him that Blofeld has escaped. M has to give him a licence to kill this time. Something really could be like this or a fresh story whatever they got in the future.

My two cents.

Oh, I forgot to add this.

Mr White. I think he's probably one of my fave villains and he was brilliant.

But he refused to kill the villain and then ran off with a girl!

I really enjoyed it but not as good as Casino or Skyfall for me. Much better than QoS obviously... The climax let the film down slightly, I much preferred the opening hour and a half.

Enjoyed the film, but I have to wonder...

Why was Monica Bellucci/her character even in this film?

Also the character of C wasn't very good neither was the actor..
