To be fair, there isn't much that is.

Bloody hope so, though so many singers these days seem to have songs that all sound extremely similar - George Ezra, Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons spring to mind.

Mumford & Sons at Glasto felt like watching the same track for 2 hours.

Casino Royale's theme is by far the best one since Goldeneye, everything else has been dire.

Agreed. Cornell’s “Bond” theme was a decent song in its own right, even if it had nothing to do with the movies.

Damn, I had forgotten that!

To be fair I think it is rare that a decent tune actually wins the Oscar for "Best Original Song"

Best recent Bond theme:

You’re right:

2018: Shallow
2017: Remember Me
2016: City of Stars
2015: Writing’s on the Wall
2014: Glory
2013: Let it Go
2012: Skyfall
2011: Man or Muppet
2010: We Belong Together

Other than Man or Muppet, that’s a piss poor list. Although admittedly I don’t know the majority of them.

The song lyrics actually did fit with the themes of the film its just that they were slightly cryptic, as were most of Chris's songs.

Yeah I worded that terribly. I meant it would have been a great song if it had just been released as a song and not as a Bond theme. It is a “Bond theme” but it’s perfectly possible to listen to it with zero knowledge of James Bond.

Was just reading the recent theme lyrics out of curiosity and, oh God, the Writing's On The Wall lyrics. They're a travesty. And then you compare them directly to You Know My Name and they're just embarrassingly juvenile.

I'd never made the mistake of looking at the lyrics before, and now I can't go back to that position of innocence.

Pure garbage, even more so than the actual Bond theme by Garbage.

Most of the modern ones have been crap. The only one I think has been genuinley good was the Adele one.
