I have the handsome collection on my PS4 library for some reason. Must when I saw it going for cheap and bought it. :slol:

The franchise definitely stands out and has its own vibe. I'd prefer to get play this on Xbox One X but it's £44.99 and on PS4 its £8.99! Maybe it will come to Games Pass.

Crazy price. It was down to about £10 earlier this year.

It's now £11.25 on Xbox Live. But will I buy it?

Borderlands is one of those games I never 'got'. Generic setting, pretty meh gameplay and no interesting story to entertain. In fact, I don't really get on with games that reply on loot as the main reward in general. If a game wants to entertain me it has to give me some sense of progression beyond simply throwing a lot of meaningless items at me. I suppose it just comes down to personal taste.

I hope you're only talking about the first game. The settings in the later games are far from generic and the story and characters are brilliant.

Exactly this. The arguments are somewhat valid for the first game but the second actually has a good story, fun and interesting characters and varied locales. All built upon a very solid co-op shooting mechanic.

I wouldn’t even say the criticisms were valid for BL1, I thought that game was excellent. The second was an improvement in every way, too.

Don’t get me wrong I loved borderlands 1, but it was very heavily slanted towards desert and dusty locations and the story was paper thin with one of the worst and most abrupt endings ever. But the gameplay was great!

Two things here; the voice of Claptrap isn't returning, and this is apparently because he asked for money this time and Gearbox said no.

Awful.

Wondered why Claptrap sounded so off in the gameplay we'd seen.

Watching Randy have a meltdown about being called a liar over micro transactions in this is brilliant.

As has been pointed out....aliens colonial marines had to have a lot of its advertising taken down as false advertising is a crime in some countries.

A company found guilty in a court to be liars then getting upset about being called liars is pathetic.

The game is getting an easy ride because much like Mortal Kombat 11 a lot of people want to play it and have love for the series.

A full price game with a season pass still trying to sell DLC items (cosmetic) or otherwise is scummy. The fact that the super special edition comes with an XP boosters means the game is trying every nasty trick to buy it.

Wish my image sig would work

Even more so when you consider that by going Epic exclusive Gearbox will get a bigger cut of the pie.

"Epic handing over a larger percentage of the profits to developers and publishers alike will benefit everyone in the industry".

Apparently not.

Was epic store even a thing when the voice actors would have been employed?

Doesn't matter, it's still hilariously crappy to have not paid the guy for - what - four games? And now when he actually asks for money to do his job they say no. Stuff like that makes me think twice about buying the game, and I absolutely love Borderlands.

I know, I was just wondering if Epic Store monies would have made a difference to the choice of VO.

I find Claptrap annoying and so I'm mixed on this... but my guess is Pitchford didn't adjust the wages he offered Eddings by taking into account previous work / the character's popularity amongst fans. Oh and Nolan North and Troy Baker won't be returning either. Again, mixed feelings on that as well  But there's no doubting that Pitchford is a buffoon.

I'm not in the business of "sticking up" for Randy Pitchford, but I think there may be more to the Claptrap payment story than the headlines suggest.

It appears that either Eddings or Pitchford is "mistaken", here. Eddings claims that he was never paid for his previous work and was then refused payment when asked to reprise the role; whilst Pitchford claims that Eddings was paid "very handsomely" before and that Eddings turned down the "2x scale" pay offer to reprise the role.

Wouldn't surprise me the voices were later added as microtransactions. "It's not pay to win so you can't complain!"
