In the end I thought float it and bought it, but not before taking the fuel scoop, mining laser and vehicle bay off the sidewinder. Fitted them all to the cobra as it has lots of spare bits (4 hard mounts now :datass: ).

Dat offset driving position. Nearly whacked into the dock exit on the way out and bounced off the floor on my next landing as it's a lot faster and has more momentum. It's so good being able to freight large amounts of stuff (up to 20 units from 2). I did a few missions taking tea and beer around to two small moons that were really close together. Two deliveries to the same moon, just on opposite sides bases netted me 260k :toot:

I'm back up to nearly half a million already having spent the 350k on the cobra. Going to kit this bad boy out with some more advanced stuff once I crack a million.

Also have a passenger/crew seat to my left so I may fill that too.

Space trucking :toot:

The jump to cobra was definitely worth it, very flexible ship that can support nearly any role you want. I've kitted mine out with passenger cabins and extra cargo holds so I can transport up to 36ton and take people on site seeing tours of the galaxy for big money!

Recorded a mission from walking around the cockpit (dat headless pilot), selecting a mission, leaving a moon, fuel scooping and finally landing at a space station to turn the mission in. Gives a fairly good representation of what the game is like playing a galaxy truck driver to those who don't have this. Also strawberry float the Nvidia video recorder for somehow deciding to not capture the audio AGAIN.

I can't begin to imagine how immersive this must be in VR :datass:

Are you permanently in free-look mode? How does this affect things that require a steady head like landing? I think I'd struggle with that :?

I always switch to fixed camera view when I'm driving. Can't you do that photek?

Must admit I'd love to play this in VR. Don't think I could play it on PS4..

How much would a rig like that (capable of vr at that level) cost?

That bit when the lights came on above the spaceship :datass:

So tempted to snap up one of those Thrustmaster flight sticks for the PS4 ahead of getting this (and in advance of getting Ace Combat 7 for VR too). Anyone have any experience with one on PS4 Elite?

I've not used one myself, but I can tell you using a hotas massively improves the game. You feel like you're flying something rather than playing something.

I love flying around those structures on my way to landing, also make a point of going 'upside down' whenever possible to make use of the other axes.

Does that make it queasy or are you so used to VR that you've gotten used to it? (I hear that can happen)

I suffer from really bad motion sickness but I'm so used to vr now that it doesn't bother me at All, especially in cockpits like elite or racing games, because they ground you to the environment and it makes sense.

Now standing up and then using a stick to move in a fps on the other hand, fuuuuuuck goodbye stomach contents.

It's such a shame cross platform play isn't a thing in this. Think how cool it would be meeting up somewhere.

Saw a while back that a load of players met at the centre of the universe, looked great.

If I get this then my entire aim will be to buy a Fer de Lance. They were so strawberry floating cool in the original Elite and 10 year old me wanted one so bad. No idea if you can actually get one or how much money they are though.

You can indeed get one, if you have 52m credits burning a hole in your pocket!

I guess that equates to an awful lot of playtime (or a chunk of actual money to skip it).

I don’t actually know if you can pay for in-game currency (haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere) but yes it would take a while to get that much money by regular means.

Hoping it may be added to X1/PC, Sony seem to be weird about it.
