Brand new PS4 controller not charging

Anyone familiar with this happening? PS4 Pro brand new. Controller came out of the box plugged in and charged fine. Now no matter where I plug it in it wont charge, the yellow light wont go on.

I plugged it into my pc and it lit up and then charged from the wall but now it wont charge again. Very odd

I presume you have tried charging it with the PS4, if not unplug the PS4 for a few minutes then plug back into the mains and try charging it through the PS4 i think by holding the share button down to resync.

was hoping I wouldnt have to exchange it as I dont have the purchase information, it was a gift

This could be a wild goose chase but I think you may be able to call Sony directly as the pad will have a barcode on it so they'll see it's a new pad and be able to exchange it.
I'd like someone else to confirm or debunk this though first as it's just a hunch.

If you go through the playstation webpage above it does ask for the barcode off the controller so it may work.

I had this issue a few weeks back and it ended up being the usb cable even though it worked with other stuff. . might be worth trying a different cable.

The plot thickens

Moved wires etc around and different plugs blah blah

Mine have done this a few times. Pressing that little reset button on the back sorts them out.

I tried the rest thing and no dice

What does seem to get it is if I hold the cable down at a weird angle so I guess I just got a defective one
