By the by, where was the quest you got a job from? Don’t want to miss it

It's when you reach the gaming hall in the desert city. You might have to wait a bit, then come back. That's one of my faint annoyances about the game actually: it keeps populating old areas with new side quests, so you have to keep going back and checking - and not just checking the towns either, but the bigger buildings within the towns. At day and night too. It all gets a bit tedious.

at least we get fast travel pretty quickly. thanks ill keep an eye out

Ah, it's xenoblade

Xenoblade crossed with the awareness of tedium of Tales of the Abyss (i.e. not much). I really am enjoying it, but not all the side quests so much (and that optional job I mentioned above? Rubbish). They do occasionally lead to some good dialogue though. The silversmelt one was pretty funny.

I’m now at Mushroom Town in the mist. The artwork is really something special in places, in a completely different way to Octopath.

Well just got to as far as I got in the demo and I feel it’s improving

Looking forward to finding out what jobs I’ll get from some of the characters they’ve teased. Some more obvious than others

worst part is i doubt im even gonna use that job

I’m beginning to think some of the battle choices were terrible ideas. Like giving all enemies the ability to brave and default just allows some of them to just wreck too much damage in one go. And everything has a counterattack, and the counterattacking of healing just feels completely unnecessary.

I'm just hoovering up the last asterisks in "part 2" of Bravely Second so will be downloading the demo of this.

The music is great in these games, wasn't aware the composers changed for Bravely Second.

For what it’s worth Bravely Second is one of my too games ever and Bravely Default 2... isn’t so far. There are some faintly baffling choices, including the ‘everybody counterattack’ thing that Shy Guy mentions. Still enjoying it though.

I think that Elvis at least is authentically Scottish? (And I do like ‘Go and boil yer heed.’) As for that one you mention... yes, no. :lol:

How did you find Bernard and Galahad Shy Guy? They’ve been the two real difficulty spikes for me so far.

he is yes, i believe he had a small part in pixar's brave. but i think hes exaggerating it a bit

havent fought galahad properly yet but yeah bernard was a colossal pain, he just counterattacked everything

ok so galahad was pretty annoying. well his entourage was. seems the key is a max level black mage who can get past elemental immunities so i swapped elvis back and slowly but surely got the lot of them

think i just finished chapter 2 more or less

I’m in the crux of chapter three now. It’s really quite unpleasant, but they lessen the impact somewhat by having the main party go ‘This is wrong!’ every five minutes. Ever heard of ‘show don’t tell’?

Also: the Helio/Gladys boss felt really hard after my first couple of tries, so it was very rewarding to find a strategy that absolutely sat on them.

you get your first glimpse of the "french" accent after the ranger boss fight so i had just done that
