Those alternate endings are all gooseberry fool, so glad we got the one we did

Although I wanted one where Walt become a lumberjack of course.

Not necessarily a finale ending, but one Gilligan kicked around before season one even started.

A sequence was considered in which a very ruthless drug dealer would murder Jesse. Walt, ‘filled with rage,’ shackles him in a basement and rigs a tripwire with a shotgun, so that the dealer can kill himself by pulling it. Walt wants the dealer to do it, so he begins torturing him from the ground up. He begins with the toes and ‘lops off bits of this guy, cauterizing it with a blowtorch or something.’

This goes on for weeks, but the dealer won’t kill himself. Eventually Walt Jr. discovers him and tries to give him some water. When the dealer realizes Walt Jr. is Walt’s son, he trips the wire and kills them both.

Gilligan said no one at AMC was crazy about the idea, which suggests an even more cruel and sadistic Heisenberg than we’re used to, and eventually his team of writers – ‘people with more sense,’ he joked — canned the idea.

strawberry floating hell, I'm glad they didn't do that.

Just think: it would mean we'll see him pretending to be Kevin Costner to bag a lady. And more Mike.

I hope we see more of Saul's 'A-Team'.

Also we may see him doing business with Gus.

I doubt it, they didn't know each other before Walt came along, hence the whole "I know a guy who knows a guy" thing.

That could be him just using his client confidential thing. I doubt Saul would know Mike's connected to him if necessary.

Those aren't actually alternate endings, it's just an article written from what Vince Gilligan talked about on the podcast.

Theory about the finale all being Walter day-dreaming from prison or hallucinating from beyond the grave after being caught at the New Hampshire bar.

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/c ... iewed.html

I also felt everything went too smoothly for him in the last episode. This some Lost-level bullshit.

One of the things that doesn't sit straight with me is that at the beginning the cops should have had a look around before leaving so soon, and they'd definitely have noticed footprints in the snow leading to the car Walt was hiding in.

More people discussing the same theory. Via twitter :dread:

Also, from the comments in that New Yorker article:

[...] To further this dream theory, we need to look further into the Marty Robbins song, which fell out of the glovebox with the screwdriver. It tells the story of a man who falls in love with an evil temptress named Felina. In an act of pride and jealousy he kills a rival suitor and goes in the run. Eventually he gets shot (in the side, take note) by a gang of cowboys. He dies happily in Felina’s arms, but this is interpreted to be a dream as Felina is on the other side of the country. In the end he gets killed by the thing he loves, but loves anyway. Just as Walt died in the lab (at least in his apparent fantasy). But was he imagining it like the singer of the song? Who, as mentioned above, was dead as he sang it. [...]

So he was basically Ghost Walt. Not so different from Dexter after all.

I would like to buy into that theory as the episode was so un-Breaking Bad it's untrue. Everything went smoothly? What? This is Breaking Bad, gooseberry fool goes sour so fast with an ever so small light at the end of the tunnel.

Pfft. Pretty much every popular thing that's ever ended has a shitty "it was all a dream" fan theory.

Are we really already at the point where people are head-canoning the finale out of existence?

If you liked Walt in the end don't watch this video or you'll hate him (plus its kind of awkward and sick):

This dream theory is the most retarded thing I have ever read.

Are there deleted/extended scenes on the DVDs? I want to see more

It might well be, but what is the significance of the tape that Walt found while searching the car's glove compartment?

I just saw that as meme bait for the tumblr comics.

People thinking it was a dream :fp:

Get a decent ending and make theories to turn it gooseberry fool.

I disagree with this idea that everything went too smoothly for Walt in the final episode. His wife and son hate him, his daughter will never know him, and he only managed to get 10 per cent of his hard-earned fortune to his family.
