Earl Grey I feel sometimes you get unfairly piled on in this forum, but goddamn there are times when you really go looking for it, you idiot.

Stunning!
Walt did actually show some good sides in this episode. He clearly didn't want Hank to die and tried everything he could to stop it, was even willing to be arrested. Plus, he took the blame for Hank's death, among other things, in order to exonerate Skyler.

No forgiving what he did to poor Jesse though!

Possibly the best episode of television I've ever seen, unrelentingly grim after the opening though it was. :( "I watched Jane die" made me burst out laughing and I felt bad immediately afterwards.

What was in Earl Grey's sig?

Regarding last night's episode:

Gomie :( I think that his death is the only one to genuinely sadden me. That is to say, I was still shocked at Walt for letting Jane die but I only felt true remorse when I saw Gomie's body lying in the desert. I hadn't picked up on Walt helping out Skyler in the phone call during the final few minutes until I read people's reactions here but I am glad that (it looks like) Skyler will be free from prison and able to raise the children.

Going forward I think that Walt will take out the Nazis so that his product dies with him. As for Jesse, that's tricky. Given that Walt told Jesse about Jane, the fact that Walt was willing to sacrifice himself for Hank in this episode and that he called Jesse 'family', I think that Walt won't (intentionally) kill Jesse. I think that Jesse's time cooking for the Nazis will give him the chance to contemplate the events that occurred before his captivity and it will mean that he doesn't kill Walt himself, though I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse does go after Walt.

Despite my optimism for Walt's next actions, I still believe that he has turned evil and is no longer dominated by a desire to provide for his family. Instead he seeks to preserve his empire and reputation as Heisenberg while keeping his family away from harm. For me the turning point was in the last moments of season 4 where it is heavily implied that Walt poisoned Brock. Once this was confirmed in the opening of season 5 I knew that Walt's main goal is to keep himself alive and in the game.

Don't think so myself. I thought that was entirely him trying to scare Skylar

That's some shameful gooseberry fool.

I just remembered: last night, while catching up to everyone else,
I saw the episode where Walt buries the moeny in the desert. "I want to Scrooge McDuck this money"   I actually laughed like mad when I heard and saw that scene.

Rewatching the cold open I was stunned to see the exact same shot as later on in the episode when Skylar goes for the knife. The knifes are so prominent that I'm amazed I didn't even notice them first time around!

Edit: Here it is:

No way!
I thought it was pretty clear he was ensuring that his family weren't implicated in any of his crimes. He was making the police believe that he had been threatening Skylar and had kept her in the dark about exactly what he had been up to. If it was just to scare Skylar he wouldn't have made stuff up that she knows isn't true!

I just rewatched the end of the latest episode.

Wow. I can see now how Walt is saving Skyler from any persecution as he takes all the blame for everything that has happened. Seeing Walt in tears as he uses every ounce of energy he has to maintain his composure on the phone and deliver a convincing performance for the police is one of the best things I've ever seen. It actually makes me feel sorry for Walt as you can see that he is trying to say goodbye to his family while keeping them safe from the police. Now I actually want Walt to find a way to reconcile with his whole family so that they may all start new lives. However, given the cold opening of season 5, I doubt that it will end happily ever after for them all.

This is truly an amazing show and Bryan Cranston is an incredible actor.

That's what I thought at the time but he makes the call right outside the fire station he leaves Holly at and breaks the phone immediately after the call ends. He guessed they were listening/tracing the call and wanted them to find Holly as soon as possible.

What an episode

Hank :( Gomie :( Jesse :(

Marie's interfering :x

Particularly loved moments like Walt bargaining for Hank's life, getting Skylar off the hook(?) and, as sick as it was, Jesse back in the lab.

Poisoning of Brock was the moment I started seeing Walt as truly evil. I can't wait to see what he does in the next 2 episodes... and how he finally gets his comeuppance

There's also the fact he's weeping throughout the whole thing and giving Holly back instantly makes no sense with what he was saying.

I'm assuming Skylar/Walt Jr can also claim some kind of witness protection scheme and escape everything, hence how the house ends up abandoned. Am I the only one who's noticed more and more parallels and traits shared by Walt Jr and Hank, not to mention how Walt Jr has always been quite proud of him? Not playing a "OMG He's Hank's kid!" thing, but it might just be some interesting narrative. Walt Jr was great in this ep, though. Another example in this ep of the running theme that showing mercy leads to problems down the road (Not killing Todd, Walt trying to save Hank and giving up the money by doing so not to mention this all stems from sparing Lydia waaaay back and I imagine the Nazis will regret not killing Walt, too)

But strawberry float me. That's probably the best individual episode of a show I've seen. Bryan Cranston's acting was just incredible.

My theory regarding how Jesse gets out might be stealing Walt's trick in the RV from way back in the beginning. I just don't see how they logically have Walt come save him unless Walt 180's on his view of Jessie. (at least not intentionally.)

Also, as it seems nobody else has mentioned it yet:

When Todd goes to get Jesse, he screams about telling him where the confession tape is. Meaning the Nazis know that it's at Hank and Marie's house.

Also, seen elsewhere and just frankly incredible foreshadowing:
