I had actually forgotten about the 2022 release, but this still kinda sucks. There was an nvidia leak a little while ago that confirmed a Switch 2, no? Guess it makes sense, but what could they really add that would make it worth it?

So, what do we think is happening to the Master Sword?

Will we be rebuilding the master sword? Maybe why we’re going back to the sky so we can go back to Skyloft?

Fair enough with the Spring 2023 - not what I wanted but I appreciate Nintendo's honesty. Though its further away, weirdly, having a firmer release date makes more excited now.

I wonder what the big holiday time release will be this year then?

Delay sucks, but it'll hopefully be worth it.

Switch 2 next year would be sweet as well.

Now, how is Metroid Prime 4 coming along Mr Nintendo?

It would be cool if Prime 4 replaces Zelda as the 2022 holiday release (Mario Odyssey 2 would be cooler) but the cynic in me doubts it. Overall I think a little longer development time for Zelda will be a good thing and this year is so saturated with great games, with Prime 4 I worry its in development heck. Its been so long since we've heard anything!

When they spoke before of it maybe coming out in 2022 it sounded quite tentative. I was worried that it releasing this year would mean it would be more than a little rushed, so I'm actually relieved it's not coming until next year.

Off the cuff... the delay is disappointing and I'm not a fan of the idea of the game being cross-gen with the game also launching on a potential new Nintendo system.

Breath of the Wild was, of course, great on both the U and the Switch so it's hard to gripe - bit it was a tad frustrating that the game had been designed for the GamePad and we ended up with a blank screen on the GamePad for the U version, as the Sheikah Slate interaction had probably been taken out of the game due to the simultaneous release of the Switch version.

We should absolutely be getting a Mario game as well, one to tie into the movies release.

I’d imagine the only real differences would be increased graphical fidelity/smooth FPS if the next Switch is indeed just a more powerful version of what we have already.

At least it won’t be on your games bought for 2022 this way Jawa :toot:

I’m still hoping that whatever comes next from Nintendo (hardware wise) that it’ll just be a continuation of the Switch, so it being a cross gen game won’t be much of an issue, that’s IF it releases alongside some new hardware too, it’s anyones guess if it will or not

Too many games anyway so I'm kind of relieved. Would definitely buy a Switch 2 for this though.

There is no way Nintendo are releasing new hardware that isn't a continuation of Switch anytime soon.

Hire more developers Nintendo ffs.

I suppose it was to be expected but it still sucks. 6 years between Zelda releases I think will make it officially the longest gap ever. The fact that it's built ofg the same engine as well makes me think something must have gone wrong somewhere. Though I guess COVID probably accounts for at least a years delay. Problem is now I really wouldn't be surprised if the slips again to Q4 2023 and they just pull the old bait and switch by slapping it on a new console.

We'll probably have had 2 GoW games in the wait for a BotW sequel. I kind of assumed Nintendo had gotten on top of HD development cycles but their still woefully behind the rest of the industry.
