Am I the only one slightly disappointed by this if true? I wanted to be taken into a weird dark mirror world, à la MM. Also, Hyrule was gorgeous and impressive first time around: I'm not sure it'll have the same impact a second time, unless it's much more populated.

Need to see the source, and could still be a translation thing. Like maybe he's just confirming that it's chronologically a BOTW sequel, so the same Link/Zelda?

It could be the same hyrule but “upside down” so gained or something so it is all dark and gooseberry fool but the opposite of the real one if that makes sense.

They're all the same Hyrule right?

Good to hear we won’t need an expansion pack for it :slol:

But yeh, I think he’s just explaining why he wanted to make a sequel to BOTW. I don’t think that’s confirmation it’ll use the same Hyrule map.

Too early for me to get excited yet, I’m pleased another is coming and I love the dark style almost majors mask or twilight princess look to it. Im sure it will be a fantastic game

I can't imagine they'll use same map unless it were to get a serious overhaul. BotW sold really well, their target market here is surely those gamers again, not folk new to the series. Familiarity with the environment would kill the sense of exploration that made the first so great.

Could be they'll use two or more maps, the original with changes and a new area. Would be cool to see Hyrule develop.

Yeah it felt a missed opportunity that the world was basically ruined and there wasn't much interesting stuff to explore like caves or dungeons.

They would have to really change the world for me. I feel like I explored most of what it had to offer and it was a shame that it felt like so much of it was unused. Vast swathes of the land were kind of like the great sea in Wind Waker in that respect.

One of the big things BOTW sold on that people loved was exploration. I can’t imagine they’re going to remove that factor by using the same map.

A new map and the old map built up in a post Ganon world sounds great though.

Re-use of the map would be a big let down for me, even if it had seen some rejuvenation in the meantime. I want something new to explore!

More internal areas - caves etc. would be nice as well.

I'm calling it, the rise of zombie Ganon causes an huge earthquake which opens up a bunch of caves and hidden dungeons.

This was my hope and conclusion as well - I think it was very telling that for a sequel to a game that was all about the "great outdoors" the action in this trailer was almost exclusively underground.

And the items within the dungeons, while not technically required to defeat Ganon, counter his attacks or hit his vulnerabilities, making the fight a LOT easier. Dungeons can be done in any order, and items from other dungeons are only used to find secrets/shortcuts within them.

I think a q4 2021 release is likely considering it normally takes about 3 years between zelda games, and presumably they finished developing botw's dlc in 2018
It's a bit early to show off the game when you look at nintendo's general philosophy on these things, but they do tend to announce zelda a bit earlier to build a hype cycle

Finally, idk how I feel about reusing the same map; if it's been built up and whatnot since the end of the last game I'd be ok with it. Hopefully they also add a new area and like dungeons and caves and that

Yeah we chatted about this on the stream. For me using the same map and just rejuvenating it is DLC territory. Post BotW1 completion DLC. It also doesn't solve one of the biggest issues with BotW in that the world is unnecessarily large. Cant believe they would do this. :?

Sign me up for ALTTP style mirror world though. Imagine moving between a light and dark version of the map :datass:
