I don't think it will. But it will much much tighter than the last time.

Jeremy Corbyn's letter setting out his party's demands for supporting a Brexit deal has been welcomed by the European Parliament's Brexit co-ordinator.

Guy Verhofstadt said "the broadest possible majority" was needed for a Brexit deal in the UK.

An EU source said European Council President Donald Tusk said the letter was a "promising way" out of the impasse, in talks with the PM.

No, I don't.

And Corbyn is still anti-Freedom of Movement which more or less kills a bunch of his proposals right from the get go.
Sure, his proposals are a good starting point, but if he sticks to no Freedom of Movement then it'll just end up the same as May's deal.

At no point did they say his plan was any good though - just the the idea of a cross part deal was great

A cross-party co-operation is the way forward and I think I can say that we welcome also the letter that Jeremy Corbyn has written today to Mrs May to offer such a cross-party exit.

"It's important now that this leads to a position in the UK that has the broadest possible majority, so that we can conclude these negotiations."

So it's still magic unicorns (CU without FoM) AND it throws out party conference and the agreed 6 tests

Thanks Magic Grandad :slol:

If the red line is access to the CU (which is the starting point) then by extension Freedom of Movement stays if that becomes a problem :fp: Labour have always said JIT is the most important thing to retain from our current access for the sake of jobs

Or if our newly trained negotiators can secure a CETA like arrangement designed around JIT :slol:

A friend of my wife writes on Facebook:

I can only apologise for having previously voted for the Liberal Democrats.

I see now that they are as much responsible for Brexit as the Tories. And if they had the chance to do it again, they most certainly would.

And that they missed a trick by not demanding £8bn for doing so in the first place. And if you you think that they would ever vote against Brexit, knowing that, then you are very much mistaken.

They’ve shown their true colours. They know exactly who their masters are. Betrayers. I’m ashamed that I didn’t see it sooner, but at the time I had to vote with my conscience.

There is however a new, real, alternative on offer. Genuine change. And if you can’t see that, you’re lying to yourself. The game itself has changed.

Labour, is now the only game in town, with the only realistic plan, endorsed by the EU no less, for a future that’s different, and better, from what has gone before and what we knew was wrong. Isn’t that what we all voted for all these years ago? Every single one of us?

Change, and for the better. We can’t go on like this.

Vote Labour, else you really are voting for exactly the same gooseberry fool that got us where we are today. So if you vote against Labour, you’re voting against the only solution the EU will accept.

Such is my understanding, having spent the last three years trying to understand and trying to educate myself as to why, why any of this gooseberry fool.

Why haven’t you done the same, instead of bitching and whining about the result of the referendum. Didn’t you ever stop and ask yourself, why? Why the strawberry float is this gooseberry fool even happening.

I’ll leave that to you to read up on, you’re all educated idiots like myself, you can educate yourselves I’m sure.

Vote Labour, they’re our only hope. The Liberal Democrats can only disappoint you, again and again. Likewise The Greens, they’re just not interested, sorry. when people say “they’re all the same” that’s exactly what they talking about.

Vote Labour. It doesn’t have to be like this. But understand this, if you don’t vote Labour, you’re voting for more of the same.

Such is my understanding of current events. Harrumph.

It is, of course, entirely your decision. Future generations may well hold you personally responsible for this gooseberry fool but, y’know, if you’re ok with that, by all means don’t vote Labour, and be forever strawberry floated.

Consider the future, for anyone but yourself. And vote accordingly. This is may not even affect you, I hope you realise this. This is your one chance to be a better person. Rise, rise above it all

Lab want access to "A" Customs Union, not "the" customs union. Precisely as it seems they want to end/reform Freedom of Movement.

Beasts of England, Beasts of Ireland,
Beasts of every land and clime,
Hearken to my joyful tidings
Of the Golden future time.
Soon or late the day is coming,
Tyrant Man shall be o'erthrown,
And the fruitful fields of England
Shall be trod by beasts alone.
Rings shall vanish from our noses,
And the harness from our back,
Bit and spur shall rust forever,
Cruel whips no more shall crack.
Riches more than mind can picture,
Wheat and barley, oats and hay,
Clover, beans, and mangel-wurzels
Shall be ours upon that day.
Bright will shine the fields of England,
Purer shall its waters be,
Sweeter yet shall blow its breezes
On the day that sets us free.
For that day we all must labour,
Though we die before it break;
Cows and horses, geese and turkeys,
All must toil for freedom's sake.
Beasts of England, Beasts of Ireland,
Beasts of every land and clime,
Hearken well, and spread my tidings
Of the Golden future time.

Blaming the Lib Dems for Brexit whilst bigging up Labour's position is...quite the hot take.

Another of his hot takes.

This is the truth.
If you’re not against the Tories, you are for the Tories.
If you vote Lib Dem, you’re pro Tory.
If you vote Green, you’re pro Tory.
Listen to what they’re saying.
They would rather have a Tory government than a progressive, fairer society.
Listen to what they’re saying and judge them on their words.
They would rather have a Tory government.

Jacob Rees Mogg has quite obviously been reading The Sun Says this morning and parroting that:

The Sun Says wrote:Back her deal

Image

MAKE no mistake: though the penny is dropping for many Tory backbenchers, Brexit is still very much in peril.

The news that Labour will back the ‘Kyle Wilson’ amendment, ensuring a referendum on the PM’s deal, should be deeply alarming to those Conservatives who still think a better Brexit is possible.

The amendment is a Remain wolf in sheep’s clothing. It would be an Establishment stitch-up, with serious consequences for the public’s faith in democracy for decades to come.

For those Labour supporters who voted to leave, it’s a reminder that the party’s MPs are desperate to overturn the result of the ‘People’s Vote’ in June 2016.

There are some notable exceptions. But the vast majority are determined to frustrate Brexit, regardless of the result of our biggest ever democratic exercise.

Labour is now far more interested in north London than the north of England.

The threat of Remainers wrecking our departure gets more pressing by the day.

Brexiteers must now accept reality and back the best Brexit possible: the PM’s deal.

Jeez. That's... That's a strawberry floating blow for May eh?

Suppose it depends on the legal definition of 'substantially.' I assume this means we're now headed for an 18 month delay at the least?
