Vince Cable says his party - and voters - wanted parties 'offering the same message' to stand 'under the same banner'

The Liberal Democrats have accused other anti-Brexit parties of damaging the chances of success in the European elections by refusing to fight on a joint ticket.

Vince Cable lashed out at The Independent Group and the Greens for rejecting his pleas to stand joint candidates on 23 May, to boost the number of MEPs demanding a second referendum.

Lib Dems are completely correct, but the divided left never learn. They should have all united behind a party called EURO to go against BREX. Not even joking, this is the level of discourse needed to compete.

This will be in Quitter phrase. The EU is going to collapse.......SKYNET WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!!

It’ll all depend on where Skynet is made.

If it is made in the UK, the USA or a (white) Commonwealth country then it will be the best thing ever. Nothing to fear, this is us taking control of our own destiny!

If it is made in the EU, a (black/Asian) Commonwealth country or anywhere they talk a bit foreign, then it will be the worst thing ever. Eurobots will steal our jobs!!!

But once Skynet starts taking over they will all love it. It’ll be just like WW2 but this time with robots!

It will clearly be a UK creation - Dyson is a Brit after all. He has been stringing us along with all these vacuum cleaners and gooseberry fool hand driers solely as a means to fund the development of his true legacy: the neural-net processor and the birth of Skynet!

With the state of his shitty products I wouldn’t fear DysonNet.

They are centrist but only in the sense that they took the worst parts of the left and the worst parts of the right.

CUKs are Remainers which is good, but everything else about them seems pretty shitty.

A Dyson vacuum cleaner can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with.

It doesn't clean hard, or carpeted, or tiled floors.

And it absolutely will stop, constantly, until you are dead!

Ireland does have a problem with religion having a disproportionate influence in public life but that religion isn't Islam.

N Ireland yes. The Republic has made a massive change over the last couple of decades. Abortion has been legalised, gay marriage is legal and the current Taoiseach is an openly gay man whose father is Indian.

Yeah, but it's still a problem though. For example, in most places in the south you basically have no choice but to send your child to a Catholic school unless you are lucky enough to live near one of the secular ones as the church has a stranglehold over the education system. The government policy so far has not been nearly tough enough.

Anyway, my point is that if any religion is a threat to Irish society then Catholicism probably ranks number one.

The schools is literally the only thing they have left and every new school is secular and the government are buying back catholic schools from the church to make them non religious also. My own daughter goes to a catholic school but is nit thought religion as we didn't want it.

To say in this day and age that any religion has a say in rep of Ireland is simply factually incorrect, yes, we, the inevitable inertia will show some things but as a 42 year old, the churches influence on political and social life in Ireland has changed radically.

Also, that bint has no chance of being elected!

Have quite a few Irish friends and the Republic of Ireland looks in a great place right now, taking steps forward all the time
