I'm just really interested to see how Boris manages to get his way out of this one before the end of October.

My understanding is that it basically suspends the government to allow a time sensitive matter to resolve a certain way through inaction.

Pretty much.

In this case it’s Johnson’s way of running down the clock and forcing a No Deal.

It's hard to keep track of all this gooseberry fool isn't it!

I think it was the Spelman amendment that was voted on - this should have prevented a no-deal outcome. However the option was still open for parliament to be shut down via prorogation and therefore have no-deal happen by default.

Today's vote was to say that they can't do that basically.

That was to prevent the government from actively seeking a no deal. This prevents them from actively seeking it through loopholes and inactivity.

Last vote would have meant "No Deal" wasn't possible. It failed. So No Deal is still possible, but so was stopping No Deal

This vote blocks Johnson from closing Parliament.

It means Parliament can still, in theory, choose to block no deal.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Your government loves voting for things.

Everything gets voted on multiple times. Except Brexit itself, apparently people are never allowed to vote on that again.

Today’s vote just means that Parliament has to be open in October to report on progress with the Northern Ireland assembly. It’s relevant to Brexit because it means Johnson cannot shut Parliament in October and so MPs can take control if need be.

Thank strawberry float for that. With the Trump stuff this week I really thought we had ran out of luck.
