I freely admit this.
I don't really understand how the whole party didn't just shrivel up and die with shame after the coalition years, but there they are walking around like they still have any moral legitimacy. God bless their dessicated soulless little husks!

You can see it on their faces even now, how desperately they'd like to be Very Serious and Very Sensible people and help the conservatives come to a Very Sensible Compromise. We'll strawberry float the nation, but with the 12 inch cock, not the 16 inch cock. We tried to negotiate for the smooth dildo, but they insisted on the metal spiked one. Don't worry! in return we get have a referendum on whether we should have a referendum on changing the voting system!

I can see it now: May agrees to in/out referendum to secure support, but it doesn't happen and the Lib Dems have to be responsible for strawberry floating everything up AGAIN.

But if her deal gets through then why would there be another referendum? I’m confused. If the deal is passed then we will leave the eu. If we then have another referendum afterwards then it will be to stay out or rejoin surely?

They are making that their condition.

Still....208 more votes still needed!

Presumably the referendum would come first with the agreement that if May's deal won the Lib Dems would back it. It doesn't really matter because without Corbyn's backing it'd never pass.

I really, really want a second referendum.
Hopefully that will put a decisive end to this nonsense.

This would make sense if their was a realistic change to get enough votes to oust the Tories if the Lib Dems voted with Labour. There isn't and they just voted with Labour and lost. If there was an indication that some Tories would rebel then I'm guessing the Lib Dems would vote to oust May. Also the SNP have made the same move and no seems to care even though they have five times the MP's. Also the Lib Dems seem to be one of the few parties not trying to screw the country at the moment.

That said they're not doing a great job, with the mess this country is in they should be able to make a come back but they've been useless.

Looks like the Speaker may have to get a part time job at B&Q when he retires.

Don't you know? That wasn't the true labour party. That was a party that was hijacked and threw their real socialist values out of the window. The true labour party would never have done such a thing.

To be fair, the leadership who happened to be there at the point of decision is obviously a big factor. John Smith would likely have won in 1997 regardless and maybe wouldn't have taken Britain into a blatantly dodgy war into Iraq? A Smith led Labour government would have looked and acted reasonably different to a Blair led one (although not socialist), while still probably beating the Tories electorally.

I read this pretty daft what if scenario in The Guardian years ago that ends with Ken Livingstone of all people becoming PM in 2001.

It made me laugh even back then. Could you imagine? Ken strawberry floating Livingstone!

Anyway, good thread of thoughts by the reliable lawyer David Allen Green on revoking Article 50 (i.e taking no deal off the table):
