I'm very happy as they're just handing voters to the Lib Dems and Greens. It'll be far better to hand power to them at the moment.

Trouble is that left wing votes are too split.

Left: Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP, Plaid Cymru

Right: Tory, Brexit Party

It wouldn’t be so bad if the left wing parties could agree to cooperate and/or go into coalition. But the daft strawberry floats won’t.

I think the smaller ones will other than Labour who are dead set on brexit.

They probably would but without Labour they wouldn’t have enough seats to take power.

It’s too late by then, we’d have a Boris Johnson (probably) led Brexit Party supported government for at least 5 years before any other party could do anything.

I could see prescription charges rising, but they are already rising quite rapidly.

The US healthcare companies will strawberry floating trample it into the ground. If they get access to the UK health market then they will not be happy to compete with socialised medicine.

Trump revealed what he sees as a trade deal. Trump’s a fool but do you really doubt that the US would make healthcare one of the central points of any deal?

Do you think Boris Johnson, faced with zero trade deals, would block it? Parliament might, but by then we are going to be pretty desperate and it will be dressed up as competition for the NHS rather than a replacement. Or as the US healthcare companies “helping” the NHS with competitive prices.

Congress could block it, but that leaves us with no powerful trade deals. Or Congress backs it and leaves us with no NHS.

Brexit is wonderful.

I'm sure conservatives will try to make it happen, but I as much as anyone else depending on the NHS sorely hope that it will not. And I can only hope that.

This thread, if accurate, seems to explain the potential realities of such a situation well.

They'll get access to bid for government run services. British private companies such as Circle are already running UK hospitals using NHS branding. The move to any kind of insurance based system wouldn't happen until they'd privatised the whole thing. They can try and lobby government for higher prices on operations that'll have to be paid for though taxation in the short term.
