I think it was the Spelman amendment that was voted on - this should have prevented a no-deal outcome. However the option was still open for parliament to be shut down via prorogation and therefore have no-deal happen by default.
Today's vote was to say that they can't do that basically.

Everything gets voted on multiple times. Except Brexit itself, apparently people are never allowed to vote on that again.
Today’s vote just means that Parliament has to be open in October to report on progress with the Northern Ireland assembly. It’s relevant to Brexit because it means Johnson cannot shut Parliament in October and so MPs can take control if need be.
